Ship scanning

Ship scanning can be done with a Ship scanner module. This will reveal the target fit and capacitor level.

Results of a ship scan performed on a burst. This unlucky scan shows only three of the nine fitted modules

The scan will not always reveal full information on the fit. The scan will show random number of modules on the target ship. To get the full fit you will need to perform the scan multiple times. Filling up a ship fit simulation with the scan information helps in finding the full fit of the target.

Ship scanners can also be used to scan Upwell structures. Unlike with ships the scan result of an Upwell structure will always show the full fit.

The capacitor level seen in the ship scan is useful information for neuting ships. Neuting ships sometimes fit a ship scanner so they can stop neuting ships that are already dry.
