Talk:Incursion Ship Guide: Nightmare

I take great issue with the fact that for your VG fit with this you're bringing absolutely zero utility to the fleet. Two Sensor Booster IIs is complete and utter overkill for this ship. You in no way need them for the targeting range and the scan resolution is completely overkill. What's more, your rig setup is very strange. Pairing a T2 Thermal rig and T2 Extender with 2 T2 Invulns and a C-Type EM Ward and DC2 is seriously overkill. 70% resistance across the board before boosts is way too much when it's at the expense of bringing utility to the fleet in my opinion. I would much rather see a pilot bring something like this:

[Nightmare, Vanguards]

Tracking Enhancer II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II

Pithum C-Type Adaptive Invulnerability Field Pithum C-Type EM Ward Amplifier Sensor Booster II, Scan Resolution Script Tracking Computer II, Optimal Range Script Tracking Computer II, Tracking Speed Script Republic Fleet Target Painter Federation Navy Stasis Webifier

Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Mega Pulse Laser II, Scorch L Large Remote Capacitor Transmitter II Large S95a Remote Shield Booster

Large Energy Locus Coordinator II Large Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer II Large Core Defense Field Extender II

Medium Shield Maintenance Bot I x5 Warrior II x5

This ends up with balanced 70% resists across the board after our standard OGB, brings both a Target Painter and a Stasis Webifier and avoids the extraneous Sensor Booster II in the mid slots. You could drop the Locus Coordinator for a Capacitor rig if you're that concerned about it, the fit lasts just over 8 minutes under its own power with no implants. That jumps to just south of 10 minutes with just a 3% for each EO and EM which is stable enough for Uni incursions, and 11.5 minutes with the CA-1 and CA-2 Genolution implants, all without a ET buddy which the Nightmare pretty generally has with how many ships in our fleets carry utility modules in their high slots. It's not unreasonable to think that the Nightmare will be able to ET off of someone pretty reliably. If you don't want to take that chance you could put a Semiconductor Memory Cell in place of the Locus Coordinator and end up with a 15 minute cap time with no ET which is more than sufficient. All in all I'd very much like to see some more utility that contributes to the fleet with this fit. As it stands this VG Nightmare is complete dead weight outside of its damage which isn't enough to allow it to not bring anything else to the table in my opinion. --Kaiden tsero (talk) 02:09, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
