Update

On September 18, 2024, CCP did a balancing pass across smartbombs. I've updated the tables with the new meta naming convention as well as the stats for meta and storyline mods, but I have not done faction mods yet. Additionally, there is a new officer module, Allecto's Modified Medium Multispectrum Smartbomb, which should get a mention in the page. In the same vein, should officer smartbombs also be mentioned? - Duke -- Preceding unsigned comment by Duke Shasta (talk) 03:32, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Nvm, figured out how to create the update banner. -- Preceding unsigned comment by Duke Shasta (talk) 03:37, 5 October 2024

Restriction Range

https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Smartbombs#Characteristics

They cannot be used close to stations, stargates, or acceleration gates. If the module is clicked while too close, an error message tells you minimum range. This range varies from smartbomb to smartbomb. For example, a 'Vehemence' Compact Small EMP Smartbomb with a range of 3000m has a restriction of 5000m; a 'Vehemence' Compact Large EMP Smartbomb with a range of 5000m has a restriction of 5000m; a 'Regressive' Large Proton Smartbomb with a range of 6000m has a restriction of 6000m.

The restricted range info was wrong, so I updated it to the above based on my own testing. I only tested a small handful of smartbombs and can't extrapolate. Are all <5km SBs restricted to 5km? Are all >5km SBs restricted to their range? Mutated SBs? - Boniface Vachon (talk) 18:49, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

More concretely, this could do with testing:
- Micro Smartbombs: is their restriction smaller?
- Mutated Smartbombs: is their restriction their exact range or is it rounded up?
- Mutated Smartbombs: do range-bricked smartbombs have reduced restriction?
Testing is easy to do and pretty safe. Go red safeties on a gate in some quiet losec and try to activate the SB. If you are too close you get an error message with the restriction range. That's the number to write down.
