Captain Guillome Renard

Former Captain Guillome ("Gee-yome") Renard is a veteran EVE player from 2005. He joined EVE University in 2010 and signed on with the Ivy League Navy (ILN). He was called away for RL reasons before concluding his tour of duty and so returned in 2011 to do his bit for quill and country. He was the commanding officer of the now defunct ILN Special Combat Operations Group (SCOG), former CO of the now-defunct Battlegroup 3 ("Honeybadgers"), and frequently teaches classes on PvP topics such as fleet command, the care and feeding of interceptors, how to avoid boredom during wartime, as well as combat theory classes when the mood strikes him. On 12/12/12 he announced that he was departing EVE University, and on 12/21/12 he finished dropping roles and joined Future Corps. He was with Future Corps for two years, terrorising known space from the depths of whatever lies beyond wormholes - all in the name of Bob. After a while, Future Corps and Guillome suffered a cultural break and he terminated his relationship with them. He now flies with the former nullsec alliance Of Sound Mind [SOUND], as a director of Raising The Bar [733].

He is best reached by evemail.

Biography

Guillome Renard has been puttering around New Eden in one manner or another since 2005. While it is known that he previously flew under a different alias, he has not revealed to anyone what that other identity was other than "an ill-tempered, anti-social Gallente miner. No, seriously, I used to helm a Megathron as a mining ship and think that made me safer." A series of poorly handled encounters led him to gather a substantial number of enemies. Eventually he concluded that the only way to go was to fake his own biomassing. This involved separating himself from his assets and virtually all of his accumulated training. He emerged as Guillome Renard, the son of Intaki artists, mining barge pilot without peer.

With a fresh face and fresh start, he sought friends, free from his previous, well-earned persecution. He joined EVE University in 2010 with the intention of learning to properly fight back against the thugs and hoodlums that resided in low-sec and prevented him from exploiting the more lucrative mineral resources therein. He caught a bad case of the PeeVeePee bug instead and joined up with the Ivy League Navy as a member of Battlegroup 3; the same battlegroup he would take command of upon its reinstatement a year later.

In order to keep up with the double workload of his classes and service to the ILN, he began abusing Drop in the hopes that it would improve his performance. This transgression was swiftly detected and he was committed to a rehab program for the better part of a year. Upon his return he found the ILN largely defunct and opted to "finish his service" flying with the Low-Sec Campus instead. It was there that he first climbed into an interceptor and began to terrorize Hagilur and it's inhabitants, the Space P0lice.

Several months into his LSC adventures, the ILN was brought out of retirement by a combination of the efforts of Gibson Thunderbird and Silentbrick. He jumped at the chance to bring back his beloved institution and was commissioned as Captain of the new Battlegroup 3, for which he claimed the sobriquet "Honeybadgers." "Honeybadgers don't give a $#!t," he would explain to any who asked. He followed this up with the brutal podding of "neutral" Tengu pilot in full view of CONCORD - demonstrating his intended doctrinal philosophy. Sadly, he had a brief relapse of Drop use and had to be sequestered for another round of rehab shortly thereafter. Upon his return, he found his favorite battlegroup disbanded.

His lament was short lived; His lawless antics initiative had been noticed by the new admiralty board and he had been promoted to commanding officer of the Special Combat Operations Group, there to further spread his flagrant disregard for his own ship and the ships that flew beside him. The SCOG experiment was either a modest success or something of a failure depending upon who you ask and what their view of the ILN is. Regardless, it lasted only a few short months before the fog of ambiguity over its mission eventually smothered it.

Shortly thereafter, though unrelatedly, the Captain announced that he was leaving the ILN, and indeed leaving E-UNI. This was not due to the disbanding of SCOG, which had been the Captain's own suggestion, but rather was due to his wallet dropping below 5M isk again. He headed out on December 21st, 2012, to join Future Corps; hoping that wormhole life would treat his wallet better than military service to a charity had. Two years later he would part ways with Future Corps to join Of Sound Mind, an alliance dedicated to people being excellent to one another.
