The universe is vast, beautiful, and deadly.  Pilots flying through [[New Eden]] may from time to time take a screen capture of something that catches their eye, whether it be a brand new ship or SKIN, your ship in an interstellar fleet, a never-before-seen [[Upwell structures|Keepstar]], a unique shipwreck floating in space, or a beautiful planet on fire.  
The universe is vast, beautiful, and deadly.  Pilots flying through the EVE universe may from time to time take a screen capture of something that catches their eye.  A brand new ship or ship's skin, your ship in an interstellar fleet, a never-before-seen Keepstar, a unique shipwreck floating in space, a beautiful planet on fire.  There are some amazing and beautiful graphics in EVE, ranging from the unimportant, ugly and strange, to the fantastic, legendary rare, and the heavenly.  Some of these objects and features you may want to save for either personal use or for use in various contests.  Here's how to grab those shots.
 
 
 
It is recommended that you press [ctrl+F9] to remove all user interface windows and panels first.  This action will remove all windows and user interface graphics that normally clutter your screen and save your pilot's life, but only by removing all of the user interface features will a pilot be able to view the beauty of cold space and take that majestic, once-in-a-lifetime screen capture.

Press the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard.  The computer will save your screenshot the EVE folder located on your computer's c: drive.<br />
 
Press the F12 function key on your keyboard.  If you are playing the game from a Steam account, pressing F12 will save your screenshot to your Steam temporary screenshot folder.  Minimize the game client window to see the Steam temporary screenshot folder window on the desktop.  The window will temporarily hold all of your F12 capture screenshots.  These screenshots may be selected and uploaded to your user's Steam library (select the option "friends only" or "public").  If this action is not uploaded and the Steam temporary screenshot folder window is closed, all of those Steam temp screenshots will be lost.  Forever.<br />
 
It is a good rule of thumb to snap "Print Screen" AND F12 to save that once-in-a-lifetime shot to both save folders just in case one is lost or gone.  Forever.  Like the inside of the Capsuleer's captain's quarters.<br />

To temporarily turn off the user interface, press CTRL + F9.

Windows

Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard. Default save location:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\EVE\capture\Screenshots

If using steam, you can also take a screenshot by pressing F12 on your keyboard.
Screenshots will be visible in Steam by navigating to:
View -> Screenshots -> EVE Online
