Our usual courier is out of commission today, with her ship in for repairs after a pirate attack. If you want to make yourself useful, take the latest shipment over to <Station> and ask for Amelyn. They'll know who you mean, just say that “Imba” sent you. |
Lore blurb: The Syndicate Market |
---|
The Syndicate is the underbelly of Federation society, filled with its outcasts and criminals; it's a place where they can move freely and openly, and even prosper outside the reach of the law. As a result, supplies of luxury items at affordable rates are hard to come by, leading to a thriving black market in everything from sweets and the latest fashions from the Crystal Boulevard to ship parts and broadcasting equipment.
For those who reside under the independent governorship of the station managers, life can be more expensive when acquired legally. Official companies within the Federation add a high tariff for the risk of shipping through low-security and lawless space; the more frequent the attacks, the higher the cost. Residents who aspire to a higher-quality life must live with a daily balancing act of legality and affordability. Even such minor offenses as purchasing necessities via the black markets can potentially bar an otherwise law-abiding citizen from finding an honest living within Empire space. |

A friend and I are running a small holoreel bootlegging operation on the side. The shipments are bound for Syndicate, but I only need you to take them on to where my business partner is operating from. The cargo has been disguised as standard holoreels, an effective disguise provided nobody looks too closely at the contents. |
