I like nice things, <Pilot>. Who doesn't? Handing missions out to you people all day doesn't offer nearly enough to cover my expenses, so a friend and I run a shipping business out to Syndicate space. Nothing big enough to interfere with the Syndicate itself, mind you. We provide a humanitarian service importing the latest holos from the heart of civilization. It's the only way they can get the things for a reasonable cost – buying them direct from the companies in the Federation incurs immense shipping charges. Our usual courier is out of commission today, with her ship in for repairs after a pirate attack. If you want to make yourself useful, take the latest shipment over to <Station> and ask for Amelyn. They'll know who you mean, just say that “Imba” sent you.

Official companies within the Federation add a high tariff for the risk of shipping through low-security and lawless space; the more frequent the attacks, the higher the cost. Residents who aspire to a higher-quality life must live with a daily balancing act of legality and affordability. Even such minor offenses as purchasing necessities via the black markets can potentially bar an otherwise law-abiding citizen from finding an honest living within Empire space.

The cargo has been disguised as standard holoreels, an effective disguise provided nobody looks too closely at the contents.
