===Introduction ===

So you want to know how YOU can help the university!

This class is ment to provide players with the knowledge and insight they need to be able to take the next step. To make a difference in the university, to help improve the institution that helped you understand the nature of the beast that is EVE-Online.

as such this is sort of a "Introduction to Eve University 102" class

''(Instructor should then introduce himself or herself - covering relevant experience level and background.)''

We have a few ground rules for this class:

* Please put your Mumble settings on "Push to Talk" if you have not already done so.

* Feel free to type any questions in the Class.E-UNI chat channel as we proceed - I will try to answer your questions as they come during the class, if they are relevant to the current topic.

* At the end of my lecture, we'll open up the chat to all questions

* You should be docked up safely in a station near you

=== E-Uni chat channels ===

The most easy thing to do is having a look at the chat channels like Chat.E-Uni from time to time. Answering questions

and covoing someone who really needs help and offering advice is a great thing and we encourage every unista to offer

his help whenever possible.

=== Running E-Uni Fleets ===

E-Uni runs a lot of fleets, from almost permanent locust and spider fleets for missioning, wormhole and incursion fleets,

pvp fleets and so on. These fleets are a great experience for everyone, especially the newer students who would not be

able to do this alone.

So whatever area you are comforatble with, start fleets and encourage newer players to participate. E-Uni as a community,

and doing things together keeps this community alive.

A great starting point is forming mission fleets with younger students. But be aware that you have to care about them.

For Mission fleets this usually means explaining triggers and important mechanisms of the mission and tanking the damage

to keep the students flying with you safe.

== Logistics Department ==

The Logistics Department is one of several departments that make up Eve University, but it is also the department with which most students will have the least personal contact. Four sections with their respective managers comprise the department; the four sections are Mining, Research, Production, and Hangar Management. Services rendered by the logistics department include BYOM Ship Production and Freighter Production.

=== Mining Section ===

The Mining Section is responsible for all the mineral and mining needs of the university. This includes leading and coordinating mining operations for students, hiring Mining Officers, implementing refining programs, expansion into future mining programs, and supplying minerals for all logistics projects. Additionally, the Mining Manager typically keeps the Industry.E-UNI chat channel's "message of the day" up to date.

=== Research Section ===

The Research Section is responsible for all research oriented programs for the university. This includes management of the POS research jobs, maintaining the University blueprint library, implementation of research procedures and policies, hiring Research Officers, research of blueprints for other logistic projects, and future expansion into BPC sales and production. The Research Section does not grant access to the POS for research. It only supervises the research process and delivers jobs.

=== Production Section ===

The Production Section manufactures all ships, modules, or ammo needed by the University. This includes replacement ships for war or events, hiring Production Officers, creating modules and ammo to fill the student hangars, the production of items for sale, and all other manufacturing required by the University.

=== Hangars Section ===

The Hangar Section oversees the entire hangar structure for the University. This includes hiring Hangar Officers, stocking the student hangars, sorting donations, organizing University assets, implementing item security procedures, and overseeing The Skillbook Program.

=== Market Section ===

The market section runs the University's internal ship market (PYOS). This involves maintaining mineral stocks for the program, producing ships, and filling student contracts for those ships.

=== Joining the Faculty ===

Teachers are the backbone of what makes Eve University Eve University. While players can get advice in other channels and corporations, only Eve University consistently teaches live ingame classes on all Eve subjects. Since all players - especially the more experienced ones - eventually leave the university we are always looking for new teachers. If you feel you're good at explaining things, teaching might just be something for you!

Being a teacher with Eve University means you spend some of your time helping other players by holding classes - and all classes are welcome. Being a teacher in Eve University means people will also turn to you for advice, as new players recognise your efforts to help them and your knowledge in a certain field.

[[Joining The Faculty]]

=== Becoming a mentor ===

The purpose of the Mentor Program is to help new players in EVE to understand the game better and more rapidly, by teaming them with more experienced players who can provide practical advice and coaching.

Mentors are volunteers, who want to give back to Eve University by helping new players get off to a good start in EVE. They are experienced players who have been selected based on their qualifications and ability. Mentors assist their assigned charges through EVE mail exchanges, online chats, TeamSpeak discussions, or in-game exercises where appropriate.

Eve University Mentors help their assigned novices to understand the fundamentals of EVE, guide them through this chaotic universe and help them learn how to have more fun by finding the area of gameplay that most interest them.

== Class Wrap-up ==

While the true reward for assisting the university in any of these areas - is the act of helping itself. The people that choose to donate their time to the betterment of the university, it does carry with it certain small benefits.

Every position carries its own title, viewable by any pilot in eve that opens your ingame info window.

With these titles, the owner gains entry into restricted chat channels and forum areas. Some allow access of corporate hangars and  wallet and others grant voice server admin.

As well as the respect and admiration of thousands of people. The university has since its founding produced over 10000 graduates, who learned how to enjoy this great game, and many times that number have learned to appreciate the university for the positive influcence it has had on EVE as a whole.

But for the university to continue in this role, new blood has to enter the system to replenish the old. We need fresh hands to document new features, and areas of gameplay, new fleet commanders to lead the rookies into battle, new miners, researchers, producers & haulers to build the framework for the institution, new diplomats and news reports to spread the word of our deeds - and to calm people down when a rookie makes big mistake. We need new recruitment officers to keep the flow of rookies going and with the help of mentors - guide them on their path in EVE. We need new teachers to continue this great legacy and we need new professors to guide our path.

The future of the university is in your hands - you need not be an expert at what you do to make a difference, you just need the will to make a difference
