I completely disagree with the isk value:tank ratio presented in the "expensive cargo" section, it fails to take into account that only half the cargo will drop (on average) and the value of the sec status since you only get a set number of ganks before you have to go rat for more sec again. It may be about right if you're dealing with suicide destroyers used by people that are already below -5, but as long as you warp manually and don't slowboat to gates, you will avoid those.

An accurate ratio is impossible to create though. It depends too much on specific tiers of EHP, where certain amounts will mean you need a bigger (more expensive now that insurance payout for concord losses have been removed) ship and/or more people that need to get the values worth out of their sec status, time and opportunity cost of missing better targets while they're waiting for their GCC to expire.

The T2 shield mods require different levels of shield upgrades and shield operation depending on size. In addition to that, shield management 5 is required for T2 shield boost amplifiers want to edit that in, but I'm not sure how to word it without making it too long, and the amplifiers doesn't really deserve a mention anyway since they're useless for haulers (just like shield boosters), and this is a hauler section, not a shield tanking section.

Could we move this page to Industrial, or Industrial ship? It doesn't give any information about hauling other than the industrial ship lines. It's clearly in the mold of the other ship pages, like Frigate or Cruiser. I would move it to Industrial, but that page exists as a redirect to here, and would need to be deleted by someone with that power. I'd rather do that than just copy paste content, since using the move command preserves editing history. --Al hubbard (talk) 14:20, 2 December 2016 (CST)

So, it turns out there's a whole detailed article on hauling in the Wikitext, which actually justifies the title "Hauling" it's just a mistake in the formatting from a previous change had made a cut-off after the ship descriptions. Added the missing content back now. We can either clean up the article itself (rather than moving it), and copy the ship data out to a new Industrials page, or move the page and create a new "Hauling" page and copy across the Hauling bits which had gone missing. Personally I'm in favour of option 1. Breeze one (talk) 07:04, 9 December 2016 (CST)

:Oh, would you look at that, it actually was an article on hauling. I'm definitely in favor of a dedicated page to industrial ships, and now that we're keeping this page we don't need to delete the redirect and move, since there will be two page histories anyways. I'll get on that. This page will focus on Hauling as a profession, and should have a section on ships which gives an overview of the different types while linking to the Industrial page for more details.

:Sounds good! I think Freighters deserve their own ship page (maybe along with JFs?). I'm just finishing updating the Freighter 101 syllabus, so some of that content can probably be taken for a dedicated Freighter ship page. Will have to have a read through the missing Hauling article now but guess it could probably use a bit of work Breeze one (talk) 01:01, 10 December 2016 (CST)

Expansion Updates

I redid the description for the T2 industrials and T1 freighters for Kronos. However, I did not update the information for each individual ship.

Opinion

Anyone with a few hours, some inspiration and halfway decent API skills could attempt to come up with an accurate ratio from the killboards... hmmmm...

The cleanup tag...

... is there because I wasn't sure if the first line meant it was a work in progress for a certain set of people, or for anyone. I guessed the latter, so I added the Cleanup tag.
If it was meant as a WIP for just a few people, then sorry. Just change the tag to Work in Progress and it will be good to go. - Felix riggs 11:40, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Cloaky / Nullified / Stabbed T3's

You might want to discuss using cloaky / nullified / stabbed T3's for hauling smaller, expensive cargo in nullsec.

Rename to Industrial?

Could we move this page to Industrial, or Industrial ship? It doesn't give any information about hauling other than the industrial ship lines. It's clearly in the mold of the other ship pages, like Frigate or Cruiser. I would move it to Industrial, but that page exists as a redirect to here, and would need to be deleted by someone with that power. I'd rather do that than just copy paste content, since using the move command preserves editing history. --Al hubbard (talk) 14:20, 2 December 2016 (CST)

I agree with the name change (probably to Industrial). Could you talk to one of the wiki admins, to see if they agree and can move the page for you? – Noemie Belacqua 14:12, 3 December 2016 (CST)
