IMPORTANT:  This mission requires you to kill 3 waves, but the last two waves are trivial, just one battleship in the second wave and two BS in the third wave.  The first wave is where all the action is.  When you warp to the location, you'll need to approach Audalle Roire who is approx 30km away.  When you get within 20km or so, he will speak to you, and the first wave will spawn fairly close, within 15km, and close quickly.  The wave is just a few ships at first, but more battleships arrive every few seconds, until there are 12 battleships total.  The DPS you will receive initially seems tankable, but ramps up -very- fast to insane levels.  Don't even think about it - as soon as the first few ships arrive, JUST INITIATE WARP OUT IMMEDIATELY, and good luck with your tank holding if you delay at all.  There were no warp scramblers the two times I did it, but do expect webbing.  Then warp back at 100km distance and start moving away as soon as they're in range, sniping from as far as you can - for your projectile users, use arty, even if you're in a Machariel.  Their ships are fast and will catch up to even a 180m/s BS well before you can take them all out.  At greater than 70km, they'll miss you altogether. At greater than 50km, the damage is tankable without too much trouble.  Much closer, and the DPS will start climbing sharply again, don't be shy about warping out again and come back at 0km if you need to - the remainder of the wave should now be a good 100km from the starting point, and you can repeat the process.  Do it this way, and it'll be easy - I handled it rather easily and painlessly in a Maelstrom.  Try even briefly to tank the 12 BS's at close range, and, well, I hope your ship was insured.  Oh, yes, a signal amplifier or sensor booster to extend your targeting range is probably a good choice for this mission as well, since you really want to stay as far away as possible.  And, needless to say, an afterburner wouldn't be amiss either, if you can stay far enough away you shouldn't need to tank much at all.  Even MWD should work, though I haven't tested it - but I'd just do regular AB anyway, the signature increase likely isn't worth it.

Another strategy to easily complete this mission - steps below:
1. After you complete warp to the location, DO NOT approach Audalle Roire. Instead, fire up your Microwarpdrive or Large Micro Jump Drive in any direction other than Audalle Roire's location - make sure you reach warp distance between you and the beacon (I put 180km between me and the beacon). Create a bookmark for this location - and DO NOT close your bookmark window.
2. Warp to Sun and warp back to mission location (make sure your capacitor is fully recharged, check your bookmark by right clicking on it to see if you see the option to Warp to location, and do not launch drones), and begin approaching Audalle Roire. Once you get within 20km away from Audalle, he will speak to you in a pop up message. As soon as you see this close the message and begin warp to your book mark inmediately - DO NOT DELAY and do not waste time reading the message. The frigates that show up might web you with their stasis webifiers, but still, you should be able to warp although it may take a few seconds. If you get nervous, you can launch some light drones before you approach Audelle and order them to attack the frigates that web you soon after you first initiate warp to your bookmark (do this if you don't mind losing your drones).
3. Hopefully you've reached your bookmarked location and thus safe distance. The enemy ships might be a good 150km to 180km away. Wait until your capacitor is charged and your armor or shields are recovered. Begin to approach the enemy ships until you get within 100km range (note that for this mission I used railguns and a Sensor Booster II to increase targeting range. I also used Lead Charge L ammo for range). Stop your ship at around 100km range and deploy sentry drones (I used Bouncer II sentry drones - it would help to fit a Drone Link Augmentator to increase the range of your drones). Begin targeting and fireing at the enemy - enemy ships will begin to approach you. Once they get within reach of your sentry drones, they will fall quickly. Get rid of frigates first because they could web you again if they get close enough. Also, if enemy ships get too close - say around 50km, recall your sentry drones, fire up your microwarpdrive to put 100km distance again between you and them, stop your ship, launch sentry drones, and continue taking out the enemy. When I followed this strategy, incoming damage was minimal and I was able to complete the mission rather quickly.

Spawn 1:  Spawns when you approach Audalle Roire, see note above.  Frigates:  3x Mercenary Wingmen (web), 4x Mercenary Elite Fighters. Cruisers:  6x Minmatar Pator 6.  Battleships:  12x Mercenary Overlords.
