Frigates: Difference between revisions

From EVE University Wiki
Interceptors: Named the subgroups properly. Removed the describptions as they were useless or outdated. Added imp and whiptail as they are interceptors.
Interceptors: Condensed the description to the bare minimum as Interceptors should provide the details. Especially removed some very wrong information about the use in nullsec.

Interceptors ("'ceptors", "inties") are the primary tacklers everywhere but nullsec (where interdictors and HICs take over). They have the highest base scan resolution of any ship class, allowing them to lock on to other ships very quickly. While their main purpose is tackling, many interceptors can also be fitted to be effective combat ships. Their firepower and tank will be low compared to other ships, but they have the advantage of very high speed (even when combat fitted) and awesome agility. Tackler interceptors ignore the effects of warp disruption bubbles (but will still be affected by targeted warp disruption such as Warp Disruptor modules).
Interceptors ("'ceptors", "inties") are used as scouts and initial tackle. For this reason they have a very high warp speed, high general speed, high agility, and high scan resolution (to lock fast).

Their combat capabilities are very limited though. Besides the scout and tackle role they are often also used for pure traveling and then called travel ceptor.
Each race has two interceptors, one designed purely for tackling, with a bonus to the range of tackling modules, and the other designed more for damage-dealing. Both interceptors are based on the hull of the race's Tech 1 fast courier/scouting frigate. For more information about using interceptors see the Interceptors Guide.

Fleet interceptors have a bonus to Warp Scrambler and Warp Disruptor range. Additionally they are interdiction nullified, which means they ignore the effects of warp disruption bubbles.

Combat interceptors are more combat oriented. But they can't compete with assault frigates. So they are barely used since they lost their interdiction nullification,
