There are few recommendations to follow since start of the game - without them, the process of getting 5.0 will be much longer:

- Avoid missions against factions. This is by far the biggest threat to lowering standings with factions during mission running

- Complete Career agent missions. Each faction has 3 sets of missions - finishing them grants good standings increase to factions

- Complete Career agent missions ONLY once. Each faction has 3 sets of missions - finishing them grants good standings increase to factions, but this is needed later to avoid grinding Storyline missions

- Choose faction pair that you will focus on - either Caldari-Gallente or Amarr-Minmatar. These faction pairs have biggest derived standings penalties, and working on such pair allows you to avoid big decrease [wording]

- Try to run missions for chosen factions, but limit yourself to 1-2 corporations from each faction - you will reach the point where your faction standings are still low, but you'll be able to run L3/L4 missions - to be able to do that, you need corporation standings above 3.0/5.0 respectively
