Summary
The Panther is a decent middle ground for black-ops(blops) groups. The Panther's combination of damage and RoF-bonused autocannons, along with enough room for a full flight of heavy drones (or Geckos with a mix of mediums and lights) give it decent firepower (slightly below a Redeemer but above a neut-fit Sin when fit with traditional 800mm autocannons. With 5 medium and 6 low slots, the Panther can be either armor or shield tanked, although blops groups often fit armor, to give room in the midslots for tackle and utility. The Panther falls slightly behind the Redeemer but above the Sin in terms of tank (when fitted with armor buffer). The Panther also has 2 utility highs (more than the Redeemer but less than the Sin, often filled with a heavy and medium neut to help break active tanked targets. The Panther is also the fastest blops, although this trait isn't as important when dropping with a group of armor blops.
The Panther is the Minmatar Black Ops. It has extensive bonuses to projectile turrets. Further it has the highest base speed of all battleships. But as it has a high mass of nearly 150 kt, its speed with a propulsion module isn’t as impressive.

Panthers are commonly armor buffer tanked and fill a DPS role. Despite the Panther’s DPS bonuses which make the five turret hardpoints correspond to ten unbonused turrets it cannot reach the Redeemer’s DPS which corresponds to twelve unbonused turrets and usually also fits a damage mod more. The Panther’s additional mid (for a web) and high (for another neut) don’t compensate for the lower DPS.

Due to the Panther’s high speed, it’s also sometimes fitted for a kiting approach with nanos. The idea is to pull range with a heated MWD cycle while being cloaked.
