Null Cannons
These huge offensive ground based missile batteries are the only ground based weapons capable of damaging the shields and armour of an MCC. At the beginning of an engagement between two corporations they are offline, so Mercenaries are required to hack into the targeting systems and allow the MCC to control them and direct fire at the opposing MCC.
Because of the increase in Hacking Technology, it is more difficult to 'counter-hack' a Null Cannon once hacked by an opponent and return it to the control of your team before the hack is completed. Increasing the Hacking skill can help in the long term but in the short term, multiple mercenaries hacking at the same time can speed up the hack.
However, this tactic is considered foolhardy unless the area has been cleared of remote explosives first. Multiple clone kills with one weapon are often a good way for a Merc to get noticed.
