It is very important to note that those "vanity ships" have the same attributes, fitting regulations and skill requirements as their "naked" counterparts. This means they are just cosmetic changes in the game. They are not to be confused with the T2 variants or pirate/navy variants of ships, even if some of them are identified as "Faction" ships with the green corner in their info picture.
This article will only cover the Paint Job ships. For the their siblings, check Special Edition Ship.

Special Edition Ships
CCP handed out a variety of ships in the past. They were either given as present to all active players during Christmas Events or EVE's birthday celebrations or via codes that you could obtain via Flyers at player gatherings or trade fairs. There are also ships that could be obtained as pre order bonus or as a gift when you subscribed to the game or got someone else to subscribe.
Types and how to identify them
All of these ships are either Shuttles, Frigates, Destroyers or Industrials.

All of the ships have the green faction logo in the top left corner of their picture.
How to apply a Paint Job
All of the ships have first the Faction name, followed by the ship type. For example Sarum Magnate or Miasmos Quafe Ultra Edition.
