A bit about myself

PvP Experience

Fairly limited. I've been on many fleets of course, taken part in WH POS bashes, Dragon Slayer fleets, flown as Tackle, E-War, Logi and DD. I've even taken out Noobs on Patrol fleets as the FC a handful of times.

My most memorable fleet was as an augoror pilot, on a fleet roam that went into null sec. Our gang ran into another gang, slightly larger than our own... but we had logi, and they had none. To start with things went quite well, but when our FC was primaried, things didn't go quite so well... There was a terrible moment as I watched our FC dip into structure as he called yet again for reps. He'd been calm up until then, but you could hear the panic creeping into his voice. Thankfully, just a second later my reps landed and with the other logi we were able to pull him back from the brink. Our fleet kicked butt in that fight. We did not lose a ship, and killed serveral of theirs before they decided to bug out. When they did turn tail and flee, we managaged to spread points and catch a few more that we killed after their main force had warped away.

As far as engagements go, it was pretty insignificant fight. What was significant was my part in the success of the fleet, and also, my part in the near catastrophic loss of our FC. I could have been quicker. My memory of it is getting a bit hazy now, I think I'd stuffed up and in my rush I'd triggered my reps on my previous target before I'd actually switched targets to the FC, and I had to wait another complete rep cycle... which was agonizingly slow! Afterwards everyone was praising the logi, but in my heart I knew I'd made some pretty bad mistakes (that I'd do my best to learn from!)... but late or not, those reps did land and we did save everyone, so there was some glory for the logibros to bask in.

Less than 15 minutes later, our FC ordered our brawling fleet to jump through a gate and attack a kiting sniper fleet that was already set up at their optimals. Our fleet was whelped because of a miscommunication between our scout and our FC. A couple of our ships survived, including my augoror (which had spent the entire fight either jammed out and/or neuted out). Getting it safely out of nullsec on my own was interesting. Luckily there was an NPC station nearby that I could dock at to refit to warp core stabalizers.

Industry Experience

Soon after starting to play Eve, a friend (who after a while finally convinced me to join E-Uni) suggested I look into manufacturing - starting with small rigs. Made from the salvage from mission wrecks, I was able to make some small profits, and this introduction to manufacturing and the market led on to more ambitious industry projects. I expanded into mainly the T1 ships and modules that I was using, but finding profits was hard. Not all modules or ships were profitable, and those that were would often get swamped by other players who'd spotted the same opportunity. In an effort to reduce competition I moved on to more advanced manufacturing. T2 modules and more advanced ships:

  • Advanced ships I've built
    • Scimitar
    • Sleipnir
    • Stilleto
    • Orca
    • Fenrir
    • Charon
    • Nomad (currently under construction)

I've always taken some enjoyment from being able to built the kinds of ships I fly, and with my main industry alt soon to acquire the skills to fly a Nomad, I figured it was about time I built one. I don't currently own all the BPOs required to build them, so I still need to suppliment my BPO collection with BPCs bought on contract. I also do not carry out any moon mining, so the T2 capital ship components are assembled from advanced moon materials bough on the market, and the minerals I use are those I mine, supplimented by market purcahses of Megacyte, Zydrine and sometimes Isogen. However, as I extend my manufacturing capabilities, it is unlikely that my mining alts will be able to keep pace with the demand for minerals, and more and more I will be reliant on purchasing the build materials from the market.

Planetary Interaction

I've never been that focused on any one element of Eve. I dabble in many things, and PI is no different. What I don't like about PI is the constant clicking. I have several factory worlds set up, building various P4 items. At one stage I build 2 Bil isk worth of nanite repair paste, only to see the prices plummet. Building a stockpile is not always a good idea :)

From time to time I need to reconfigure my factory worlds to produce a different item. Since I build from P1 items, I have quite a few Advanced Industry Facilities, and there are MANY routes. I prefer to remove all the routes, then change what the facilities are producting, and then re-setup the routes. I guess you could just start by changing what the facilities are producing and that would probably remove the routes, but it could leave stray routes around (if the two products had an ingredient in common). So after building 3 factory worlds, I've now figured out new way to set up my factory worlds. Since the links on a factory world are almost never overloaded, you can in fact put ALL the routes thru one link. Which means, if you arrange all your facilties to all branch off from one central facility, and set up one link from that central facility to say, your command center, and have all your storage branching off from the command center, then it means you have a critical link that connects from the centra facility to the command center. ALL routes travel over that one link since every route either goes from storage to a facility or from a facility to storage (I simply do not do facility to facility links. It is a recipie for losing materials!). So now, if I delete and recreate that critical link, all the route get cancelled without having to make 400 clicks to cancel each individual route in turn. I haven't actually built one that way yet, but as soon as I have I'll take a screen snapshot and post it here so you can easily see what I mean.

Hauling

I currently have 4 accounts, and 3 of those have freighter pilots with their own freighters. Two of those freighters I built myself (see the Industry section). They are usually fairly idle, waiting for my mining operation to get together a freighter load. Typicall I mine about 500,000m3 of ore per day. And it's not in a system where I have prefect refine, so I haul it a jump or two to get it refined, and then from there to my manufacturing base. From the manufacturing base I need to haul products to Jita or other trade hubs for sale, and to bring back stuff for me to use in PvP, and extra materials to support my manufacturing. On those trips to/from trade hubs I will often haul public courier contracts. I find the in game chat channel: Haulers Channel and the in-game mailing list: Public Contracts very helpful in this matter. Sometimes seeing a public job available, will prompt me to bring forward my regular trips to Jita. Having a public contract to subsidize my trip to Jita can make it worth carrying less of my own stuff to market. Particularly with the mailing list, there are often a bunch of fairly profitable jobs posted all together. On more than one occasion I have seen a bunch of well paid courier contracts that happen to be nearby, and I've been able to deploy 3 freighters to moving the courier jobs quickly before other freighter pilots have been able to respond. Again, this is an aspect of Eve that I dabble in.

Fun per Hour

In Eve I dabble in lots of things. There are somethings I keep coming back to, like industry, but I don't stick with anything for so long that I get bored with it. I find variety keeps me interested in the game, and as yet, I haven't run out of things that I could try even if I grew tired of all the things I currently do.
