Christer Fuglesang
Song Of Birds
Mission briefing I'll get right down to it then. I am Christer Fuglesang, an operative of C.E.R.N., a corporation with strong ties with CONCORD. We oversee a part of their technological research and development, that's all I can tell you. My role within the corporation is confidential, but I am here on official business.
The problem we currently face is in Kaimon. We set up a number of particle accelerators there, for various testing and research purposes, which we abandoned a few years ago. We stripped them of everything we needed, but apparently one of them was still in a condition to continue functioning.
A few weeks ago we were informed that someone, or rather something, had managed to override the system lock we placed on one of the particle accelerators and turn it back on. The problem is whoever did this doesn't seem to have a clue of the dangers involved in running these things, the type of particle accelerator involved has instruments inside which can in theory create energy in enormous quantities. The catch is that once the energy level reaches a certain point, the operation becomes extremely unstable and liable to cause a chain reaction resulting in an explosion of catastrophic proportion, and cause conditions to arise which may result in the formation of a miniature black hole. The latest reports indicate that the particle accelerator has become so unstable it could blow at any minute.
We've already sent a team to shut down the accelerator, but we lost contact with them days ago. The last transmissions we heard from their leader indicated that they had found a strange object which was draining energy from the accelerator. It appears that this object is causing the dangerous energy bursts which we are afraid may cause the conditions necessary for the formation of the black hole. If you were to remove this object, then we expect the particle accelerator to quickly defuse as its capacitor has already drained and relies on external energy output managed by this object.
Now I won't say this isn't dangerous, we've already lost one team on this job. But if you have the guts then the mission is yours. I would however advise you to bring along some friends, the gate leading to the site in question is only configured to work with small frigates which may be poorly equipped to deal with the situation by themselves. A squadron of them however ...

This is an important mission, which will have significant impact on your faction standings.
Song Of Birds Objectives The following objectives must be completed to finish the mission:
Objective Warp to the old particle accelerator and destroy the Drone Energy Succubus structure near it. Beware of marauding drones in the area, and whatever you do don't attack the particle accelerator itself. Location 0.7 Kaimon
This site contains special ship restrictions.
Rewards The following rewards will be yours if you complete this mission: 1 x Zainou 'Deadeye' Trajectory Analysis TA-703
Bonus Rewards The following rewards will be awarded to you as a bonus if you complete the mission within 3 hours and 16 minutes: 1 x Christer Fuglesang's Medal
Mission is restricted to: Frigate Corvette Fairly easily done despite the prompt to bring friends solo with a t2 ab beam tormentor. Intial wave after popping the structures, finishing a group of 2 will spawn more frigates, at a certain point the mission was done despite more npcs on grid, may only require the initial group be killed.
local prompts: [03:37:34] Message > <color=0xffa3fc80>This particle accelerator is on the brink of destruction. Electronic particles ooze from its hull, filling the surrounding void and causing the structure to illuminate with an eerie glow.</color> [03:37:34] Message > <color=0xffa3fc80>The Drone Energy Succubus structure seems to be still up and active, continually drawing energy from the increasingly unstable particle accelerator.</color> [03:38:04] Message > <color=0xffff0000>Militant drones have appeared, intent on defending their power source!</color>
Mission complete- Amazing job, Kelon Darklight! I hope you put that implant to good use, you've most definitely earned it!
Now that this situation has been taken care I must get back to my work. Perhaps when I make my next discovery I'll name the product that comes of it after you, my friend. Who knows! Take care.
Christer Fuglesang's Medal- A medal of honor awarded by the esteemed CONCORD operative, Christer Fuglesang.
