The following information is available on an as-is basis. It is provided with no warranty or guarantee of accuracy or fitness for a purpose. We at EVE University hope that it may be useful to someone, somewhere, searching for answers or assistance. Any action you take based on such information is at your own risk. We hope that others who run into problems with their pilot's license will post information about these problems, and their solutions, for the benefit of all.

Payment Problems

If your payment does not go through, you will be disconnected from the server without warning. You might be on a fleet, or even in the middle of combat. Be sure to watch the amount of time remaining on your account(s) and use caution when the time is approaching. Your skill training will pause. Details regarding market orders, industrial & research jobs, and planetary interaction cycles is required for this page's completeness.

Prepaid Debit/Credit Cards

These cards act just like regular debit/credit cards, however usually bear significant fees and can only have a positive balance. The benefit is they cannot be charged interest for owing money. The detriment is that your monthly account will expire without warning at the end of the 30 days if you do not have funds in the card. The cards are processed like normal credit cards, requiring name and address verification, in addition to the normal 16 digit number, 3 digit security code, and expiration date.

Prepaid Gift Debit/Credit Cards

These cards can be purchased at convenience stores and other various stores, and have no value until activated at the till. One often pays cash or similar payment methods to get these cards. Often they are given as gifts or stocking stuffers, prizes, and the like. There is no age limit on these cards, and there are no associated names or addresses. You may at first think this is a problem, however I can confirm that they work just fine. Only the 16 digit number, 3 digit security code, and expiration date are needed. However CCP's processing system requires a Name, Address, Country, and Postal/Zip Code to be entered before you may proceed.

PayPal

This service allows you to withdraw funds directly from your bank account to hold as a balance and use when needed, or process a credit card through this service. There are other roundabout ways to send the money, such as using some money from your paypal balance and the rest from a credit card, or from securing your funds with a credit card while using a delayed withdrawal from a bank account. In addition, it can be used to set up a recurring subscription which is automatically paid whenever your precious pilot's license expires.

At first glance, it seems that one needs to use a paypal account with the same email as the EVE online account being paid. It does indeed appear, once clicking through the various screens that one can use any paypal account at all.
