The in-game logo of CODE.

CODE., formally known as The New Order, is a prominent player alliance in EVE Online. Operating almost exclusively within high-security space, CODE. is overwhelmingly known for their organized suicide ganking activities focusing on high-value targets, mostly hauling ships such as freighters carrying valuable items or scam contracts. However, they also perform continued assaults on mining operations (albeit in a much minor scale and often centered around popular ice mining systems) against players multiboxing several accounts or AFK mining, activities the alliance identifies as "bot behaviour," and which they consider to have detrimental effects to the health of the game's ecosystem.

A polarizing group, CODE. was officially founded in December 2012 by a player known as James315, who proclaimed himself as both the "Father of the New Order" and "Saviour of Highsec." Since its inception, the alliance has claimed to abide to what they refer to as "The Code," a set of rules that determine the purpose, procedures and restrictions that would allow members to achieve the alliance's end goal. However, there exists overwhelming evidence of alliance members purposefully ignoring their code, or adapting it to fulfill or justify the alliance's for-profit operations, to which "The Code" makes no reference to whatsoever.

This behaviour has led to extensive criticism of the alliance's activities and how they are at odds with what the alliance claims to achieve. The prominent use of ransom and extorsion practices such as "bumping" and mining permits has led many players to actively oppose and challenge the alliance, in either active or passive ways. Groups such as the High Security Militia have assembled to thwart and combat what they refer to as "abusive" practices. Other major groups and unoffical alliances such as those operated by ice mining and hauling corporations have also actively opposed the activities of CODE. as well as adapted their modus operandi to avert the thread of suicide ganking.

draft texts

The New Order, more commonly known as CODE. is a ganking group player alliance operating in high-security space that focuses on organized suicide ganking of high value targets such as freighters, jump freighters and Faction/Tech II battleships.

As an in-game entity, CODE. operates following a set of rules alliance members refer to as "The Code," and which are (or were originally) intended to fight AFK mining, an activity they refer to as bot behaviour.

CODE. was founded in December 2012 by EVE Online player James315, to whom alliance members refer to as the "Father of the New Order" and "Saviour of Highsec."[1]

As of September 2017, the CODE. alliance comprises more than 30 different corporations, fielding a total member count of around 500 players. However, the activities of the alliance have been heavily supported by the Goonswarm Federation, a prominent null-security alliance.

  1. ^ It is worth noting that such titles do not exist as part of the vanilla experience of EVE Online, and lack any meaning with regards to both the gameplay and environment of the game.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

EVE University remains neutral with regards to The New Order of Highsec and The Code. Nothing on this page should be taken as supporting, opposing, condoning or approving of The New Order and/or The Code. EVE University members are welcome to form their own opinions, but EVE University officially maintains a neutral stance.

As per EVE University Rules, our members ..."are free to make their own choices", but please note that allowing your character's Security Status to drop below 0.0 will lead to negative concequeces. Just as with hauling and visiting trade hubs, it is very strongly recommended that if you wish to engage in actions in support or opposition to The New Order of Highsec, you do so from an Alternate Character and not on your EVE University one. Note that ransoming and suicide ganking, as well as anything noted on the list of scams are prohibited by EVE University rules.
