The mission can be accepted remotely. Single ungated pocket. If you can tank the rats you can just blow up the research facility and take the item. Ships do not need to be destroyed to complete the mission.

Bliz: Ignore the ships and just destroy the research facility. Grab the required item and return to agent. If you can't tank the incoming damage you can thin out the first wave but don't destroy the last high admiral since that would just spawn the next wave.
