The DED activities have begun to trouble us. There have been far too many sightings of their ships, including ones that would not be here unless they had a safe-house of some kind nearby. While on a routine courier job, one of my pilots recently ran into CTF forces that seemed entirely blasé about their ammo supplies ... at least judging by the prodigious amount they fired into his shield, armor, and structure. He barely escaped the onslaught; his ship was taking direct hits to its hull, and the barrage of munitions was such that it nearly roasted him in his pod. Despite being wounded and needing medical attention, he reported to me directly after he'd docked. Stout fellow. | The DED activities have begun to trouble us. The information he gave me wasn't much to go on, but it was enough. Our covert ops ships scanned the area and eventually discovered a location that is extremely likely to hold a DED communications and supply station. As much as I'd like to avenge my brave pilot and his scorched eyebrows, we don't dare risk a full-scale attack on the depot for fear that they will pick up the fleet's signal on their scanner post. Instead, we need to send in a single ship, or maybe a small squad of pilots if you have some willing allies, hoping that they can sneak in without triggering a full-scale reaction. | The information he gave me wasn't much to go on, but it was enough. One of our labs a few systems out is under a DED blockade, and all our "material" there is being confiscated. Our guards are being hit with serious firepower even as we speak. Now, most of our mobile research facilities are expendable, but this one is a bit special. Our lead chemist there, Achove Oullen, was recruited after his rather embarrassing fall from grace at Poteque Pharmaceuticals. The man was an incredibly hard worker, often spending entire nights in his laboratory, and had been doing sterling work for the company.
Unbeknownst to his superiors, though, he had a tendency to use the lab for certain pet projects outside office hours. Most of these were completely illegal, of course, and poor Achove was found out when he attempted to synthesize a new drug that would allow the user to experience synesthetic highs, in which you see smells, taste sounds, and so on. His first test of the drug held him in rapt fascination all night. All seemed to be going well until his radio alarm rang. Bit of a funny story, actually. Due to his frequent overnight stays at the lab, he had set the alarm to wake him at a preset hour in the morning so that he could take a quick shower and shave before his associates poured in, and had unwisely tuned it to a station that played almost nothing except the top 20 hits in the region. The songs apparently smelled and tasted so vile that he vomited, splattering equipment and furniture with chunky bile. He was still retching when his coworkers arrived on the scene, and to this day he still screams at the very mention of pop music. All that aside, we felt he showed promise, so after he had been dismissed from Poteque, we snapped him up and set him back to work in earnest on his synesthetic drug, a booster called Sikes-8. The drug will be a key factor in our operation for the next year, but all this work will be for naught if poor Achove is taken into custody. Heh. No doubt they'll play an endless sequence of boy bands until he just cracks and tells them everything! Ha! But seriously, it would only be a matter of time before the Cartel got their hands on the information and used it to strengthen their hold on the drug market. You have to intervene; retrieve the imprisoned Achove for us. Just be careful what you play on your ship's loudspeakers when you're on your way back.... |
Note: The CTF ships are renamed Gallente ships. So the damage types given in the mission details may be incorrect.
The mission will be automatically completed when the prison ship is destroyed, and the prisoner will be dropped in a can.

CTF Crackdown (2 of 2)
Mission briefing |
---|
While on a routine courier job, one of my pilots recently ran into CTF forces that nearly destroyed his ship. Fortunately, his systems were intact enough that he could track their heading. Our covert ops ships later scanned the area and eventually discovered what is likely a DED communications and supply station.
I want you to scope out the location, and if you find any hint of a CTF depot there, I want you to conduct a surgical strike on them before they know what's happening. If you come across any shipyards or supply facilities, I want them blown to pieces so they can't fuel and repair their ships, and if anyone stands in your way, hull their ships. Show no mercy. |

Ah, <Pilot>! Thanks again for saving Achove. I hope you remembered to place him a sound-proofed cabin on your way here.
He told me that after the CTF forces had fragged his ship for a while, they'd casually and inexplicably taken off, and fortunately his systems were intact enough that he could track their heading. He gave me as much information as he could, then headed off to the med labs to have new eyebrows tattooed on. I'm putting you in command of this operation. |
