General ramblings below. Formatting will be done at some point, but not now ;)

Problem definition

The Explorer's Shadow is an Epic Arc created by EVE University members for EVE University members. It is woefully out of date.

Reconstruct the Epic Arc. Propose how big it should be, what needs to be changed, coordinate with other editors, propose additional templates, ... This is an ambition project that requires an ample amount of perseverance.

I have been pondering that topic since few years now. Debating myself if it's worth it at all. I know one thing though - Perseverance is my solution for a lot of things in EVE, so here I'm comfortable - I know I'm crazy enough to actually try it. Maybe fail, but giving it my honest try.

Open questions in Wiki Project

Who is the Explorer's Shadow aimed at?

Everyone?

I don't know right now how it will look like (but I have some ideas), but generally I would like it to be 'compatible' with every area of Uni operation.

Who, if any, will track capsuleer progress through the Explorer's Shadow?

Very good questions, and I don't have a good answer. I would like to answer "Chris Halsky", but it's wrong - it should be taken by some specific position. HiSec CCs is probably the best I can come up with (but that requires managers approval and so on), and tracking should be as simple as possible.

How and where does it fit into the Wiki?

Up to you Arin :) I like it as it is, but maybe it can get it's own namespace, so it will be distinct from "Truth and Beauty"?

Create a Navigational Template akin to what other Epic Arcs use for navigation.

That's easy. I don't know how, but liberal application of Perseverance will solve it :)

Template the common formatting elements across the Explorer's Shadow pages. Consider making a full page Template.

)

Consider how to minimize the impact of future game or EVE University changes on the Explorer's Shadow.

That's tough. Can be mitigated a bit ("Go to HQ in HiSec" instead of "Go to Stacmon - Quad"), but as everything in Wiki it will be susceptible to CCP changing something in a massive way.

Minimum Viable Product

That's something I want to have figured out before I touch the Arc itself. Currently it has 3 Chapters (with 3rd unfinished). My (current) idea is to have each chapter to be contained unit, with specific goals in mind - things that we want our (generally new) members to do/try.

Chapter 1: General travel around - short, 5 missions, visit few landmarks. Easy to complete, so I'd leave it as is.

Chapter 2: SoE Epic Arc. We recommend it anyway, so extra encouragement won't hurt :)

Chapter 3: Visiting landmarks around Main Community. It does match with Book 1 title ("So You Want to Be an Explorer?"). Also contains 'teaching' element - instadock bookmarks

New: Chapter 4: Important Landmarks which are further away, and require more travel - and in more dangerous space. That would close Book 1.

New: Book 2 - HiSec Book about HiSec activities
