Wiki Manager ticked a box on a list for each [[UniWiki:Wiki_Curator_Program#Becoming_a_Wiki_Curator|demonstratration of excellence]] based on freeform comments submitted by Judges, then counted them. Those with fewer "NA"s (Not Applicable) did better. It was possible to demonstrate excellence in seven ways:
Wiki Manager reviewed freeform comments submitted by Judges and how they thought each editor [[UniWiki:Wiki_Curator_Program#Becoming_a_Wiki_Curator|demonstrated excellence]]. It was possible to demonstrate excellence in seven ways. If no Judge made a comment about a category of excellence, an editor would receive a Not Applicable (NA) grade for that category. Editors with fewer NA grades did better during the Event in the eyes of the Judges.
* Completed a Wiki Project, a task from the [[UniWiki:To-Do List]] or [[UniWiki:Patch Notes]]? - working on these shows an editor is willing to do what's important
 
* Made use of [[UniWiki:Editing Guide#Drafts and User Pages|User Namespace]]? - drafting changes in the User Namespace shows an editor is well organized
Judges' favor notes if at least one Judge highly valued and praised an editor's contribution. It also notes if at least one Judge expressed the opposite sentiment.
* Made or improved a [[:Category:Template|template]]? - templates are tools that can be leveraged by others
* Followed [[UniWiki:Manual of Style]] or [[UniWiki:Welcome#UniWiki ideals|UniWiki Ideals]]? - style and ideals are what bind all UniWiki users
* Shown confidence or deferred judgement? - being bold, ambitious, yet knowing your limits shows good judgement
* Communicated and cooperated with others? - helping others reinforces the editor's own knoweldge
* Wrote expressive edit summaries? - the bigger the change, the more expressive the summary should be
