I wish there was a method where a page template could be created and have pages that could use that template check to see if the template was included (directory location on server as a hint?) and if not, have the server insert the template into the page automatically.
I know that those pages would very likely look wrong if the template wasn't already included and the preexisting text formatted per the template . However, the badly formatted page would be screaming "FIX ME!" and hopefully someone would do just that.
- I'm unsure what problem you are referencing. There are many Templates in the Category:Template. What Template are you looking for? Where do you want to place the Template? As Wiki Manager I have access to a powerful User:ArinBot that can change thousands of Wiki Pages up to and including insert a Template if it isn't already present on a Wiki Page.
- When I design Templates I indeed design them to fail quickly and loudly if the user made an error. As an example, see the ugly red text generated by Template:Infobox agent. Arin Mara (talk) 16:05, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Yep. Ugly red text lol
As for templates, I was referring to templates for missions. Security mission webpages are what I'm mainly using before doing a mission. I've noticed that the way information is displayed varies a lot from one page to another. Often information is missing. I understand that as players are more interested in doing the missions rather than (fully) documenting it. And sometimes there are slight variations of what players experiences or sees for the same mission.
There might already be a template that would work. I just haven't found (stumbled over) it yet.
