You will need to obtain permission from an [[Eve University Management#Director of Intelligence|Intel Director]] before you can schedule these (whether a practical is involved or not).  Please obtain this permission before going to the trouble of scheduling the class.  Also be sure to remind your students that they will need permission from Intel to fly these in wartime.

Eve University welcomes those who wish to contribute to our student community by holding events and teaching classes.

Permission

While most classes are taught by E-UNI Teachers, any member of Eve University with Sophomore status or higher is able to schedule a class.

If you are not a E-UNI Teacher and you wish to conduct a class - including any Guest Lecturer who is outside of E-UNI - contact the Teaching Manager beforehand for advice and assistance.

See the Guide to teaching classes for further information about planning your class. You will be expected to follow these guidelines, especially:

  • Prepare a syllabus of class notes in advance, and post a copy of it in the Syllabus Library.
  • Anticipate and prepare for questions.
  • Arrive early, start your class on time, and be respectful of your students' time.

Practical Classes

Please note that Guest Lecturers may not be fleeted with Uni members during a class. This applies even if you have +5 or +10 standings with the uni. If you require a fleet for the class, you will need to arrange for a uni member to act as your proxy fleet commander.

Class Scheduling and Administration

To get the best turnout for your class:

  • Check the in-game calendar for available dates/times. Do NOT schedule a class at the same time of any other class or event.
  • Post an advert as a new topic in the Scheduled Classes section on the forums, using the standard format described in the first part of the syllabus template.
  • In the in-game calendar, post a Corporate event, using this procedure. Please do NOT post your event as an Alliance event unless you are senior management. It is also best to not mark event as important, as the event will be marked as "classified" in the calendar feed and students will be unable to see anything about it.
  • If you do not have the ability to post Corporate events in the UNI calendar, then send a forum private message or EVE mail to the Teaching Manager, and ask them to post it to the calendar for you.
  • Run your class!

After the class:

  • After you've posted your after-class report, go back to the original forum advert post, and change the [CLASS] tag to [COMPLETED].

Cancellations and postponements:

If you need to cancel a class, please do not delete your posts from the forum or the in-game calendar. Instead, please edit the tags on both to [CANCELLED]. If you need to postpone a class, please mark the original class as [CANCELLED] and create new posts for the new time on the forum and in-game calendar.

Questions?

If you have any questions about any Eve University policy or procedure, please contact the Teaching Manager or Director of Education.
