The information presented here represents how we do things in the EVE University Incursion Community. It does not represent the best or only way to run Incursions. We make some compromises when it comes to efficiency for the sake of additional safety to create an environment where anyone can step up and learn a new role. |
There is a reason that the Vangaurd Incursion doctrine is the way it is - it has been designed to provide members of the Univeristy a selection of safe, reliable, and generally useful fits. However, this is somewhat limiting, and variety is the spice of life. On this page, you will find a range of fits for various ships that work for Incursions, built based on the Incursion Fitting Principles of this community. However, none of them are optimal ships, and if you are considering buying a shiny new ship to fly with us, please look towards the doctrine fits as these will give you the most value for your money.
If that has not convinced you, and you are desparate to be a snowflake and fly wacky ships simply because they are cool, then this page details how you might go about doing so safely. The fits listed below are not the only way you could go about fitting these ships, but the fits have been designed so that the ISK cost of the modules is appropriate as compared to the ISK cost of the hull (i.e. T1 battleships will mostly be fitted with T2 modules, and pirate hulls with faction and deadspace).
Damage Dealer Ships
These fits are minimum fits, able to contribute to fleet efficiency. Some of the rigging choices may seem weird for these fits, but they are all chosen to allow for extreme flexibility in refitting between Vanguards, Assaults as well as Headquarter sites. As such, some fits you see here may seem slightly compromised, but that is a choice we made to allow people to use the same ship for all the different sites. If you have a substantially similar incursions rig that is already attached to your ship, please do not feel obliged to switch those incursion rigs out in order to run with us.
Abaddon
This fit is worse than the Apocalypse Navy Issue in that it is not compatible with headquarters fleets. If you want to fly a T1 Amarr battleship, it should be that, not this.

Tempest
Projectile turrets are kind of the Jack of all trades, but there is a reason we don't suggest people bring T1 battleship hulls. This fit is a bit squishy in terms of raw armour HP, and you'd be likely to be using T1 guns instead of the T2 on this fit, so you'd be better off using one of our Praxis loaners.

Leshak
The Leshak had it's time in the Sun, but is not so useful now in Vanguards as it doesn't have a chance to spool its damage. In this sense, it was more useful in headquarters sites, though is now no longer accepted except on special "fun fleets". It has a niche, and the fit meets our standards, but it's less useful than a Vindicator or Nightmare or a Marauder.

Tempest Fleet Issue
This fit is actually kind of good. We suggest people go for the Nightmare or Vindicator, and train towards Kronos or Paladin. For the weird people that want to instead go for a Vargur (it's still a perfectly good hull, especially for PvP), this is probably the best ship you can fly so that you're not stuck in a Praxis for months. It beats the Machariel by a good 300 DPS while trading blows in every other area and costing about the same.

This has the opposite problem to the Abaddon fit - the base Megathron is an accepted starter hull in headquarters, whereas this is not. You're paying about 2x the cost of a standard Megathron for no real tangible benefit.

Machariel
This ship really suffers from being shoehorned into an armour doctrine. It's fine, it meets our standards, but for slightly less ISK you could buy and fit a Tempest Fleet Issue and simply be doing more damage.

Bhaalgorn
This ship is bonused for webs, but is bonused for range instead of strength, which is practically not very useful to us. It is also bonused for energy neutralizers and nosferatus, which are unhelpful here. To pay for those bonuses, it only has 4 turret hardpoints. That would be okay, but it is not bonused in the same way the Nightmare is, so the DPS out of this ship is pitiful for the cost. Buy a Nightmare instead of this.

Vargur
We would prefer you get into a Paladin or Kronos, as those ships are universally accpeted by every headquarters group, even the shield groups accept armour rigs. The Vargur is limited to WTM and TLA (and NGA for those that speak Russian). However, it is still a perfectly fine fit, and the hull is great for PvP for those that enjoy that and want to get the most out of their skills.

Logistics
Guardian
This fit has capacitor lasting 17 minutes with everything active without a capchain. There is no reason to use this, and it is worse than an Oneiros because it lacks remote tracking computers. The remote capacitor transfers really serve no purpose in our fleets, as our tank does not rely on capacitor. It is also very expensive (though you can meta down the remote armour repairs at the cost of some rep power.

Zarmazd
This fit is slightly more interesting. It takes 3 cycles of its main rep for its total repair output to exceed the Oneiros remote reps, and by the end of 1 minute its single spooling rep is dishing out more than the 4 Tech 2 Large reps of the Oneiros. It also gets to keep the same 4 remote tracking computers, but they are unbonused. Of any of the logistics fits listed on this page, if you wanted to bring one to be kooky, this is probably the one.

The Nestor is overkill. Here is a fit for it. It reps itself, but not nearly for enough to be really useful, and it provides remote tracking computers, but they're unbonused. It reps more than the Oneiros using only 3 of it's reps. It is also stupidly expensive. Please only get something like this if you plan on using it for Headquarters sites, or if you just happen to have the hull and modules lying around.
