Main article: Homefront operation

Salvage Research is a Homefront Operation site found throughout high-security Empire space. It is designed for a fleet of 3 pilots. There are no regional differences in the site’s enemies or layout.

Hostile damage types & EWAR:

  • Thermal damage ThElectromagnetic damage EM
  • ECM

The operation takes place in a deadspace pocket with an acceleration gate. The gate allows these ships:

  • T1 Frigate (including Navy and Faction)
  • T1 Destroyer (excluding Navy and Faction)
  • Venture
Gallente Algos flying Salvage Research

The pocket contains 30 wrecks that must be salvaged within 20 minutes. Mobile Tractor Units (MTU) and tractor beams do not work on the wrecks—you must approach each wreck and use high-slot salvage modules or salvage drones directly. Be aware that hostile ships can target and destroy salvage drones.

Hostile ships will spawn and engage you. These can be ignored if your tank is strong enough, speed-tanked if you’re fast, or destroyed depending on your fleet composition.

A Malfunctioning Werpost is located in the pocket. It can be activated with a Data Analyzer module; once online, it will attack enemy ships with its disintegrator weapon. For more info please read: Hacking.

Salvagers must have at least a 20% Access Difficulty Bonus to function (Salvaging IV or a rig is required). At 20%, these sites are quite difficult; 30–35% is recommended. For more info please read: Salvaging.

Hostiles

A fleet of 8-10 frigates and destroyers will be in the site on arrival. They will focus on a single capsuleer ship at a time, starting with the first ship to land in the site, and will occasionally switch targets as a group. The exception to this is ships with the Atgeir name prefix who will immediately begin shooting any drones that are launched, but will shoot the currently focused capsuleer ship if there are no drones in space.

The hostile fleet is composed of a random selection of the following ships. The composition from site to site varies widely, for example in one site there may be 4 Skald Bursts and in the next none at all.

Malfunctioning Werpost

A single Malfunctioning Werpost sits in the site. Hacking the Werpost gives no loot, but activates its weapon. It works similarly to the entropic disintegrator turrets found on Precursor ships, it is single-target with spooling damage. The Werpost will pick a target to shoot and switch to a new target when the first is destroyed or after about 1 minute. The amount of damage it deals is relatively low and is not enough to overcome the repairs from 4 Skald Bursts

The hack is of medium difficulty, with a gold System Core.

Rewards

Rewards for Salvage Research sites come in two forms: (1) ISK payout on site completion and (2) site-specific items salvaged from the wrecks.

Each pilot must salvage at least 1 wreck in order to be eligible for the payout, and the payout amount is determined by the number of pilots being paid. The highest payout is with 3 pilots, giving 11,025,000 ISK per pilot upon timely completion of the mission.

The 30 salvaged "Encrypted ‘Istina’ Data" items can be sold to NPC buy orders for an additional 3,000,000 ISK (100,000 ISK each).

The hackable container gives no loot or ISK reward, see Malfunctioning Werpost
