I write here because there is no talk page on special pages and this page acts as a sort of reference point to the special pages I want to talk about. It would be nice if [[Special:WantedPages]] would ignore the user namespace (and maybe also the archive namespace). The user namespace is simply not relevant to it imho. The same would be true for a number of other special pages listed here. I don't know if that is even possible with the mediawiki software. Making this more findable
Seeing a (necro) post on the forums recently regarding the lack of a to-do list for the wiki, I tried to find this page that I remembered seeing. I couldn't! I looked through some of the pages linked from the Main Page (including the guide that supposedly links to here, still can't find the link) but couldn't find my way here. This is a great resource for Wiki contributors and I feel it should be linked to from the Main Page as a primary resource; it's at least as important to be linked to as Special:PopularPages, which can always be found in the list of special pages by anyone who knows about special pages (which the linked wiki guide can do).
I'm certain it wouldn't be bad if this page was given more exposure.

Suggestion about certain special pages
I write here because there is no talk page on special pages and this page acts as a sort of reference point to the special pages I want to talk about. It would be nice if Special:WantedPages would ignore the user namespace (and maybe also the archive namespace). The user namespace is simply not relevant to it imho. The same would be true for a number of other special pages listed here. I don't know if that is even possible with the mediawiki software. Erwin Madelung (talk) 18:36, 7 July 2022 (UTC)
- Great suggestion! Ask the current Director of Information Services, User:Bates Larsson, about it. If not, you can use the Sandbox API Special Page and filter it using a local script. Arin Mara (talk) 11:20, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
- I had a look at the API. My impression is that I could automate with it what I could otherwise manually do i.e. click on each entry and check. This wouldn't be a solution which reaches beyond myself. Due to that and other reasons I'm not really interested in that approach. I had a short google search if what I ask is possible and there used to be an extension for media wiki which does it. See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17976109/mediawiki-how-do-i-create-a-list-of-wanted-articles-in-the-main-namespace and https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WantedPagesFromNS But that extensions seems to be pretty outdated. According to the comments/discussion that was easily fixable by the extension user but those are pretty old themselves by now. I just leave that for the consideration of the wiki team.
