It is very important to note that those "vanity ships" have the same attributes, fitting regulations and skill requirements as their "naked" counterparts. This means they are just cosmetic changes in the game. They are not to be confused with the T2 variants or pirate/navy variants of ships, even if some of them are identified as "Faction" ships with the green corner in their info picture.

CCP handed out a variety of ships in the past. They were either given as present to all active players during Christmas Events or EVE's birthday celebrations or via codes that you could obtain via Flyers at player gatherings or trade fairs. There are also ships that could be obtained as pre order bonus or as a gift when you subscribed to the game or got someone else to subscribe.

Overview

Ships with Ship Skins are variations of their standard counterparts. They usually are in the colors of a certain faction or corporation. They have the same attributes, fitting and skill requirements as their standard counterparts.

There are currently two types of skinned ships:

  • Special Edition Ships: Ships that were handed out as gifts by CCP for certain events or via certain codes. They can be traded on the market (found under "Special Edition Ships") but they can't be created by players.
  • Paint Job Ships: Ships that were painted by Players with a Paint Job Blueprint Copy.

This Wiki page will cover the Paint Job Ships.
