Cosmic Signatures (not to be confused with their counterpart Cosmic Anomalies) are a part of Exploration in EVE. Generally speaking they are the harder, more intense and rewarding of the two. They need to be located by probing before they can be accessed.

Types of Cosmic Signatures

Gas Sites

Gas Sites are gas clouds.

Utilizing this type of exploration site requires Gas Harvesting.

Relic and Data Sites

Main article: Relic and data sites

Relic and data sites contain contain hackable containers. They all require either data analyzer, relic analyzer or both. Some also contain combat or other hazards.

Accessing the goods requires Archaeology and Hacking.

Combat Sites

Main article: Combat sites

Combat sites are locations to kill NPC Rats as well as getting rare DED modules as loot, faction modules, as well as rare blueprints.

Utilizing this type of exploration site requires combat skills.

Unstable Wormholes

Main article: Wormholes

Wormholes are portals to and from Wormhole Space (W-Space) and Known Space (K-Space).

Site Respawn Mechanics

Much of the information surrounding the respawn mechanics of cosmic signatures is based on theory, with little hard data offered by CCP. Nevertheless, the sites will respawn immediately after being fully cleared by a player. It is unknown what range the new site will spawn in (if it's in the same region or not) or whether it will be of the same or similar type as the one cleared. Note that, based on this information, we know that sites will not respawn after daily downtime. They will only spawn when sites are cleared somewhere else within the game world.
