The Low Sec Campus was one of several campuses within EVE University. A campus that had many locations and varying activity levels over the years, it was primarily located within Caldari-Gallente Faction Warfare space during its lifetime between 2013 and 2022. This page represents LSC as of its last moments of activity, and contents below have been unaltered. As of April 2022, the Uni no longer maintains a dedicated lowsec presence, with the Main Community in Stacmon formed as a replacement.

* LSC has many mission agents available locally, with access to Low Sec exclusive L5 Combat missions that makes for quite lucrative and exciting group events.

Low-Sec Campus (LSC) Mission Statement:
+
Living in LowSec means you will get more PvP content than when living in HighSec. This means that communication is essential, as well as the individual performance of each pilot. Because of that, we look out to our fellow Unistas to make sure that every Unista joining us is able to participate in as many activities as possible. Therefore, we drafted up some bare-bone skills and ships which are essential for you and us. If you have these when you join, we will transform you into a true LowSec Pirate! YARRRR!

“Provide an educational location where newcomers to Low Security space can learn the skills needed to not only succeed, but thrive under constant threat.

Goals of the Low-Sec Campus:
+
Despite the Cruiser Short Skillplan being a requirement, we do depend on trusting new members on actually training them. Without those skills, you will find form-ups and participation frustrating.

A) Teach students how to navigate low security space safely in both a solo and team-supported environment.
+
Arrive in one piece
B) Introduce players to the benefits of Low-Security space. Provide the opportunity to run Anomalies, Signatures, and Wormholes.
+
# Travel in a 2 sec align frigate/dessie with some tank to survive smartbomb camps in Oulley and Aubenall. Travelling in a shuttle works too, but won't survive smartbombs.
 +
# Use GateCampCheck Website and look for any smartbomb kills.
 +
#Join any/all of the comms below and ask if anyone is available to scout/escort. This increases your odds of survival and also helps you meet other unistas.
 +
::* Join the in-game chat channel LSC (EVE Uni)
 +
::* Join the LowSec Campus Mumble Channel
 +
::* Join the LSC Standing Fleet

C) Teach survival, home-defense, and offensive PvP tactics that are associated with living in potentially hostile territory with aggressive neighbors.
+
There are no disruption bubbles in Low Sec, so you can usually just fly gate to gate.

These goals will be accomplished by:
+
Pack light and ship the rest
*A strict set of procedures which must be adhered to if you intend on participating in the event.
+
LSC has ships available for members to purchase on contract, and fully stocked hangars with hulls, modules, and ammo. So don't worry about bringing everything you own.
*Event Liaisons who will assist in the management of the event and ensure adherence to procedures.

*Volunteers who will run drills and mini-classes periodically.

What do I need to do before I join the Low-Sec Campus?
+
For a new player, a tech 1 PvP ready combat frigate with a micro warp drive is a perfect start.
The following is required to join the LSC:

*Complete Overview Setup Tutorial

*Read The Rookie's Guide To Fleet Ops

*Read LSC (this wiki page)

*Review EVE University Rules of Engagement

*Join the LSC Mailing list

*Create a post in the LSC Hi/Bye forum thread.

The following is strongly recommended before joining the LSC.
+
Try not to fly hauling ships as a new player. Make use of the free Campus Shipping Service to move your items.
*Have your Freshmen Title

*Read Fleet Terminology

*Read Bookmarks

*Read Safety Tips for Operating in Low Sec

*Listen to Introduction to Low-Sec Camp

*Fly in at least one Noobs on Patrol fleet

 +
Communication
Campus Rules and Procedures
General
*Only members of EVE University or the alts of members of EVE University are allowed to join the LSC Main Fleet.

*Members active in camp must be in Mumble, at least able to listen (if you are hearing impaired, let us know).

**LSC Mumble is an event chat, so you may join mumble if you are not actively participating in the fleet, however you MUST follow combat comms when active.

*If you are going AFK then you must drop fleet.

*Help your fellow campers learn. This is an on-going educational event. Lesson opportunities override all else.

*All members of the LSC Main fleet must adhere to all EVE University Rules and the SOP.

*Fly what you can afford to lose.

PvP
*A group of pilots venturing further than the local systems (see definition of 'local' in the Comms section) should move to a unique fleet channel in Mumble. This applies to wormhole fleets no matter the “jumps” involved.  It is recommended you form a completely new fleet when roaming.

*Any event that results in a killmail or lossmail will have a comment on the killboard as well as have an AAR written about it on the forum.

**1v1 arranged fights do not need an AAR. Please note the arrangement on the killboard comment.

*Suggested PvP loot distribution is donation to the camp. Fleet Agreement on loot distribution overrides this.

** An exception to this rule is that during wartime war-target loot belongs to the ILN. This loot will be deposited into the event hanger (WARTARGET LOOT) container.

PvE
*PvE loot is property of the group who agree to rat or run sites together.

*Mission rewards may never be shared with the main LSC Fleet.  If you are running missions as a group, you must form a seperate fleet in order to share the standings.

Comms
*Camp communications are by default “OPEN COMMS”.

*When first entering the LSC mumble please wait at least a full minute before speaking (unless it is very urgent).

*LSC may move to “Open Command” or "Closed Comms" if there is a threat in the immediate location or if a local QRF has formed.

*Groups of campers operating in the local systems (within 3 jumps of  Uphallant) may remain in the main LSC Mumble.

*Whomever is baiting or calls out for assistance from the fleet is the "FC" of that engagement if one has not been determined in advance.

*Operations outside the "local area" as defined above must move to a separate ILN Fleet Mumble channel. Moving to a separate fleet from campus is recommended but not required.

*We operate on a "built for purpose" foundation.  If you are hunting someone in particular, or are operating a constant operation hunting targets, join a separate Mumble channel (or fleet as a whole) until you accomplish your goal or disband the initiative.  This helps organize our fleet and keep comms clear for those who need it.

Joining the LSC Fleet
#Open the Fleet window via your NeoCom (NeoCom->Social->Fleet)

#Set the "Scope" to "My Available Fleets"

#Set "Range" and "Min. Standing" to "Any"

#Look for a fleet named "LSC", "LSC Standing Fleet" or similar.

#Right click on the fleet and select "Join" (remember to drop your current fleet if you are in one)

Once you are in fleet:

#Verify you are viewing the fleet as "Hierarchy" by right clicking on the four lines of the Fleet tab and selecting "View as Hierarchy".  If that option does not exist, you are already in hierarchy mode.

#Find your name in the fleet hierarchy (note that your current Wing & Squad will have a Green arrow next to it).

#Drag and drop your name in to the appropriate Wing/Squad (If you have leadership 5, consider taking the squad leader position, if empty, and passing what boosts you can to your fellow LSCbros.

Setting up the LSC Fleet
If you go looking for the LSC Fleet and don't find it, ask if there is a fleet up in Mumble or "LSC.E-Uni" chat.  If not, or you get no answer, set up a new LSC Fleet following this procedure:

#Open the Fleet window via your NeoCom (NeoCom->Social->Fleet)

#Right click on the four lines on the fleet tab and select "Form Fleet"

##If you already have the LSC stored fleet setup, you can load it by following the next steps, otherwise continue on with Step 3.

###Open the Fleet window and click on the four lines to open the Fleet menu.

###Select Fleet setups, then select "LSC Fleet".

###Make sure the message of the day is up to date.

###Continue to Step 9

#Once the fleet is created, right click on the four lines again and select "Set Free-Move"

#Set up the PvP Wing

##Right click on "Wing 1" and select "Create New Squad".  Do this twice so there are 3 squads in "Wing 1".  You can add more, but 3 is the default/minimum.

##Right click on "Wing 1" and change its name to "PvP Wing".

#Set up the PvE Wing

##Right click on "Fleet" and select "Create New Wing"

##Right click on the new wing and select "Create New Squad".  Do this three times so you have 3 squads in the new wing.  Again, 3 is the default/minimum.  More can be added if needed.

##Right click on the new wing and change its name to "PvE Wing".

#Set the Message of the Day for the fleet (MOTD).

##Switch to the LSC.E-Uni chat channel.

##Scroll to the top of the window and Right click on the "EVE System" at the start of the MOTD and select "Copy"

##Switch back to the Fleet chat window.

##Click the "Channel Settings" icon in the fleet chat window and Select the "Open Channel Settings Window" option.

##Right click in the text box and select "Paste"

##Clean up the first line by deleting the "[time] EVE System Channel MOTD".  Line one should start with the first link.

##Select OK.

#Create the LSC Fleet Advert

##Select the "Fleet Finder" tab in the fleet window

##Select the "My Advert" tab

##Click the "Create Advert" button at the bottom of the window

##Set the "Fleet Name" to "LSC"

##Check the "My Corporation" and "My Alliance" check boxes.  Also, select "Hide Details in Advert" box at the bottom on the window.  Leave everything else as default.

##Select the "Submit" button.

#Since the rubicon expansion, you can store your fleet setup.

##In the fleet menu, click the four lines to open the menu.

##Click "Store Fleet Setup" option

##Enter the name "LSC Fleet" and check the "Include Current Message of the Day Setting" and "Include Current Free-move Setting".

#Marvel at the greatness of the Fleet you have created and welcome people as they join in.

#Save the fleet setup from the Fleet windows setting menu for future use.

Fleet Boss
Accepting Fleet Boss
If boss is passed to you, either as a result of you volunteering or being "ninja bossed", the Fleet Advert window will pop up on your screen.  Verify the Advert settings are correct as specified above and select the the "Submit" button.  This will update the Fleet finder with the fact that you are the new boss. Save the fleet setup from the Fleet windows setting menu for future use, if you have not done this before.

Passing Fleet Boss to Another
If you are ready to leave fleet and are the current boss, you must pass the boss position to another in fleet first.  Ask for volunteers in the Fleet Chat and/or Mumble.  Make every reasonable effort to pass boss to someone who is active. Once you have your volunteer, pass fleet boss to them by right clicking their name in chat or the fleet window, followed by a left click on "Make Boss".

Being the Fleet Boss
The main job of the fleet boss is to move people in and out of  Fleet/Wing command positions when asked to do so.  Also, they are responsible for adding/removing new Wings and Squads as needed.

The fleet boss is not "in charge" of the LSC, nor is he/she the "FC" of the fleet.  Fleet boss is simply an administrative role.

*Missions

*Setup a POS with an alt (But always ask for help in LSC for eyes and a support fleet!)

*Hang out in Mumble.  You can gather a lot of PVP & Low Sec knowledge via osmosis in the LSC channel, just like you have gained 101 EVE knowledge in the Public and Combat channels on Mumble.

*Mining is not recommended as current location has significant traffic. To reduce risk, if you must mine, you can use a mission pocket and move away from the warp-in point. If you are scanned down the incoming ship will land by the warp-in beacon, giving you more time to warp away.

Newbro Guidance: When engaged in activities other than PvP, keep a close eye on local at all times. Pull local out of your chats and stretch it out top-to-bottom so you can see all the names (change the settings to show compact list). Before undocking, assess everyone in local, and I mean everyone. If you spot an unknown individual, look at the security status, look at the corp, and assume the worst. If you aren't sure, station spin, ask for advice in channel or consider PvP activities. If everyone in local is safe, undock. Press Ctrl-A to highlight everyone in local so that you can easily spot newcomers. Stay aligned to station as much as possible. Assess any newcomer to the system and if you aren't sure, warp out immediately. A newcomer may very well be scanning quickly through the plexes and belts looking for targets for their roaming fleet waiting in the system next door. If you want to better understand what is going on, participate in a few of our own roams and you will get an idea.

What Ship Should I Bring?
Anything you're willing to lose! There are people in everything from frigates to battleships and the occasional strategic cruiser. However, you should ensure that that your ship is ready for PVP. Ask about your fit if you want any suggestions.

The first time you come out to camp you can ask in the LSC Mumble channel, or in the LSC.E-Uni chat channel, if anyone can scout the route in for you and check it for hostiles, or gate camps etc.

It's a good idea to bring a fast frigate for two reasons; one, a fast frigate is difficult to catch moving from gate to gate on your first trip in and two, you'll want to create some tactical bookmarks in the LSC and adjacent systems upon arrival. A frigate equipped with a microwarpdive is an excellent ship to do this in.

Once you've made your bookmarks feel free to take in any ships you want to fight in. You might want to hold off on taking your industrial anywhere near the LSC until you get the hang of things, and even then only if you're ready for it to be ripped apart by pirates.

How do I get to the LSC?
Join the in-game chat channel "LSC.E-Uni". This is a way to communicate with campers if you are not in the main LSC fleet.

Join the LoSec Campus Mumble Channel and talk with our current members.

The fastest route from Aldrat to Uphallant is reasonably safe, only passing through one major trade hub (Hek) and staying in hi-sec until the last two jumps. When travelling down join the LSC.E-Uni channel and/or LoSec Campus Mumble Channel and ask the campers for eyes from Stacmon, the last hi-sec system. Campers can then advise you whether it is safe to make the last two jumps to the LSC.

Staying Safe in Low-Sec
In addition to paying attention to Mumble to be informed about potential problems and fights, there are some other important things you can do to stay safe in lowsec. Use these to minimize your losses.

Use the Uni Overview Settings
If you haven't set up your overview, you must do so before going out to LSC. If your overview is not properly set up, you might find yourself engaging inappropriate targets, taking fire from ships that don't even show up, or other equally disastrous situations. Pay special attention to the Pod Saver tab and learn how to use it. See the Overview Guide for information about how to configure your overview.

Local Chat
Local chat shows you all the pilots in your current system. It's a good idea to separate this window from your other chat windows and make it as tall as possible, so that you can see as many other pilots in local as possible. When you enter a system, you should check the names you see for anyone who you know causes trouble. You should also double-click their names and view their corp/alliance. Do several of them share a corp or alliance? If so, engaging them could mean an incoming gank for you. As you spend more time in the LSC you'll begin to recognize the names of players, corporations, and alliances and can roughly estimate how much trouble you might find in a given system.

D-Scan
Next to local chat and Mumble, D-Scan is your best source of information about who can blow you up. It's a complicated tool that has its own guide and classes. D-Scan is basically used to identify ships around yours. It can be used to roughly pinpoint where other ships are, as well, by narrowing down the angle at which you scan. While Local tells you what players are in system, D-Scan tells you what ships are nearby. You should leave the D-Scan window open at all times and scan often to not be taken by surprise. Some notes about D-Scan:

* Not all ships on D-Scan are being piloted. If an empty ship is located inside a POS shield, it will show up on D-Scan.

* Cloaked ships do not appear on D-Scan.

* If you notice "Sisters Core Combat Scanner Probes" or "Combat Scanner Probes" on D-Scan, someone is trying to scan down ships. Be very cautious if you notice these probes on D-Scan. If the player using them finds your ship, he can warp an entire fleet on top of you. Ask in Mumble if the probes are ours and, if they're not, it's a good idea to get out. At the very least align to something and be ready to warp out at a moment's notice and pay close attention to your overview.

Hold Your Cloak
As you jump into system, HOLD YOUR CLOAK (i.e. don't touch anything).

Check you D-Scan, see who is around and then, if everything looks ok, you can warp to your next location.

If there is a "flashy" on grid:

# HOLD YOUR CLOAK.  You have 60 seconds of cloak, which is an eternity in this situation.

# BREATHE

# If you are on Mumble (you should be on Mumble), calmly say "BREAK BREAK flashy on grid at [xxx] gate in [yyy] system.  Please warp to [your name]". Bonus points if you can list a) number of targets, b) what they are flying (frigate, BC, BS is good enough), c) confirm what enemy ships could have been in the gate behind you.

# x up in Fleet (you should be in Fleet) so fleetmates can warp to you quickly.

# You have a decision.  Fight or Flee.  If you fight, then fight.  If you flee, you can warp away (unless pointed) or you can burn to the gate.  Make a decision what you are going to do before uncloaking.

# Overheat guns if you are going to fight.  Overheat your prop mod. and shields if you are going to burn to the gate.  Hopefully the cavalry will arrive to the rescue.

Bookmarks
Your first few hours in lowsec should be spent making as many bookmarks as you can stand. See the bookmarks page for information about bookmarks. The following is a rough checklist for bookmarks you want to make:

* Two or more unaligned safe spots

* An instant undock from each station (at least the ones you use often).

* Tacticals off of stations and gates (tacticals guide).

* Tacticals off of asteroid belts if you plan on ratting.

Making bookmarks for each system you're in often is a good idea.

Campus Details

LSC Headquarters : Eugales - The Flying Dutchman (Docking, Repairshop, Clone Bay)

Why LSC?

Learn to thrive with enemies at your gate. Take the fights you want, and leave the ones you don't want.

Using Faction Warfare mechanics, you have ample opportunity to learn small ship & small gang PVP in an environment without High Sec's restrictions or Null Sec's warp bubbles and larger scale PVP.
You will learn to evaluate danger, gather piloting experience, and develop your own methods of handling dangerous space; fight, flight, or mitigate.

You don't need to bring anything, other than a sense of adventure and a willingness to ask questions.

Low Sec ISK Generation is Bountiful

 • LSC's home region, Placid, spawns Gas Clouds that are quite valuable compared to Wormhole Gas, while being much safer to mine. These gases can be used in Reactions to manufacture Drop combat boosters.
 • The home system, Eugales, and neighboring Aubenall system have Blue Ice belts for valuable Ice Mining. We regularly organize Shared Cans to teach you how to mine in Low Sec safely.
 • LSC has many mission agents available locally, with access to Low Sec exclusive L5 Combat missions that makes for quite lucrative and exciting group events.
 • Eugales's planets, with higher planetary resources, are well suited for Planetary Interaction. Enjoy a reliable income stream to support your budding PvP activities.
 • Learn Ratting and Clone Soldier farming at LSC. This is a a fun opportunity to earn lots of isk, while learning how to deal with high level PVE enemies, such as battleships, in a new player destroyer.

Travel to LSC

WARNING: Do not attempt to move to LSC unless you are already a member of or blue to EVE University.

If you don't know what being blue means and would like to learn more? Join LSC (EVE Uni).

Skill recommendations

Living in LowSec means you will get more PvP content than when living in HighSec. This means that communication is essential, as well as the individual performance of each pilot. Because of that, we look out to our fellow Unistas to make sure that every Unista joining us is able to participate in as many activities as possible. Therefore, we drafted up some bare-bone skills and ships which are essential for you and us. If you have these when you join, we will transform you into a true LowSec Pirate! YARRRR!

Recommended Skills Recommended Ships Recommended Knowledge

Despite the Cruiser Short Skillplan being a requirement, we do depend on trusting new members on actually training them. Without those skills, you will find form-ups and participation frustrating.

Arrive in one piece

 1. Travel in a 2 sec align frigate/dessie with some tank to survive smartbomb camps in Oulley and Aubenall. Travelling in a shuttle works too, but won't survive smartbombs.
 2. Use GateCampCheck Website and look for any smartbomb kills.
 3. Join any/all of the comms below and ask if anyone is available to scout/escort. This increases your odds of survival and also helps you meet other unistas.

There are no disruption bubbles in Low Sec, so you can usually just fly gate to gate.

Pack light and ship the rest

LSC has ships available for members to purchase on contract, and fully stocked hangars with hulls, modules, and ammo. So don't worry about bringing everything you own.

For a new player, a tech 1 PvP ready combat frigate with a micro warp drive is a perfect start.

Try not to fly hauling ships as a new player. Make use of the free Campus Shipping Service to move your items.

Communication

We use the following for communicating with other LSC members:

Structures and Stations

 • Campus HQ | Eugales - The Flying Dutchman
 • Clone Bay | Archavoinet - Isla de Muerta
 • Refining | Archavoinet - Gold Refinery Go Brrrrrrr
 • Biochemical Reactions | Eugales - Apothne's T-Shirt Shack
 • Research and Invention | Archavoinet - The Pirate Codex
 • Manufacturing (Bonus for Ammunition, Structure and Equipment) | Archavoinet - Center of Technology
