While we had hoped it was part of some prank or a misunderstanding as to what the girls really saw, our worst fears have been realized. We have been contacted, through a circuitous channel, by a notorious band of slavers. As proof of life, they have transmitted the daughter's DNA sequence to us. Analysis of this information has verified her identity. The kidnappers have given us a very short window in which we can secure the girl's safe release, after which they will sell her into slavery – and I don't want to even imagine what horrors that might entail. As expected, they are demanding a very large payoff in exchange for her life. Specifically, they want our entire stockpile of our rarest and most expensive metal, quantrium – one found only in the wiring of electronic countermeasures (ECM) equipment of the Caldari Navy's Rook-class combat reconnaissance ships.
