Tattoos are more than art to the Minmatar, <Pilot>. We have entire ceremonies built up around the markings we come to wear in our lives. Not to bore you with details, but ours aren't the simple ink-and-needle hatchet jobs most people think of. Exactly how the chemical process works is a closely guarded secret even within our own culture.
Word has reached my office that some Amarr splinter faction is working on their own chemical in order to contaminate Minmatar ceremonial supplies. It could mean anything from the appearance of Amarr propagandist symbols to some unexplored form of chemical dependence on the Empire. The logistics of such a plan actually working are laughably impossible, and of course we'll never be able to tie anything back to mainline Imperial channels. Still, any threat to our freedom must be treated seriously. Well, that and the whole concept is just insulting. We want you to bring us a sample of this chemical. I can't pinpoint exactly where the chemicals are being made. Our best information points to a deadspace complex in <System>. I mentioned the insult of the program. Tear through the place. I don't care how many structures you have to obliterate, just bring us this new ink. |

The Minmatar coming-of-age ceremony, known as the Voluval, involves an injection of a hallucinatory chemical which puts the youth in a trance. As the visions wear off, the individual finds him or herself marked with a tattoo of an unpredictable pattern on an unpredictable portion of body. The chemical used to induce trance and create the mark is so well guarded, even some Minmatar wonder if there is not more to the process than their elders admit. |
