Mission briefing
A recent survey scan of <System> reveals a big deposit of Banidine ore. We were content to leave it alone at first, but then we saw swarms of drones in the area. They seem to be making their way through the asteroid fields there in a hurry. They haven't stumbled on the Banidine yet, but it's only a matter of time.

We want you to get to the ore before they do. I won't lie to you; it's going to be close. You may even have to fight a few of them off, so be careful.

Rogue Drones and Asteroid Fields
It's not a well-kept secret that as rogue drones get more advanced, they're becoming more unpredictable. Talk to any seasoned pod pilot and they'll tell you about the dozens of rogue drones they've had to fight off just in the course of their regular business. Even more disturbing are reports of drone hives, massive constructs of debris that no one can quite figure out, but which are always full of haywire drones.

So what's their interest in Banidine? Who knows?! Most humans don't go looking for the stuff: It's virtually worthless, so you won't find it on the market. In fact, most sensor manufacturers don't even bother giving it its own entry in their mining packages when they produce ship scanners. (If you're having trouble finding the Banidine at the mission location, you can right-click the "Banidine" icon in your mission's Journal entry and select "Add to Overview.")

So, again, why the interest from the drones? Well, none but the drones can say, and they're not talking. Suffice to say that their interest can't mean anything good for the humans that share their space.

The NPCs arrive in multiple spawns (4-5) of one or two ships shortly after each other. They most likely be all on grid before you can destroy the first.

The first spawn arrives after approximately 40 seconds[1].

The mission's own NPCs are not a problem for a barge with drones. However, as with all belts, a regular belt NPC pack can warp into your mission site. If your mission is in 0.0 space, this may include battleships and warp scrambling frigates.
