Mission briefing
As you almost certainly know, many decades ago our Grand Fleet met the hated Jovians on the field of battle in a system known as Vak-Atioth. Most unfortunately, our fleet was destroyed by the technologically superior Jovian ships and their advanced weaponry, marking one of the darkest moments in our history. Still, we learned much from this encounter, and the lessons learned there continue to benefit our military to this day, which brings us to why I called you here.

Several days ago, Imperial naval intelligence mounted a highly classified effort to revisit the Vak-Atioth system, now known simply as Atioth, to conduct a final intensive search for any remaining debris that might provide some insight into the tactics and weapons used by the Jovians. Needless to say, this once-massive floating graveyard has long since been picked over by not only our own salvage fleets, but by scavengers and opportunists alike. All has not been lost, however.

Much to our surprise, the Anathema covert ops ships sent to scan this system returned with a damaged but still readable supply of TIL-1A Nexus Chips. A preliminary review of the information they contain reveals only a portion of the great battle. We are hoping, however, that a more thorough analysis of these chips will reveal some insight into Jovian tactics and technology. If nothing else, they provide a very rare first-hand accounting of the battle which will add greatly to our historical archives and, when displayed at one of our leading military academies, will provide a stirring motivational icon for future generations of brave Imperial naval warriors.

Now that you understand the importance of these chips to the Empire, I must ask: will you transport this invaluable cargo to the designated station?

The Battle of Vak-Atioth
Many decades ago, a large portion of the Imperial Grand Navy met the Jovians in combat at what today is referred to as The Battle of Vak-Atioth. It was our intention in opening that battle with the as-yet untested Jovians to destroy their fleet utterly, thus forcing their subjugation, as we had done with so many enemies in the past. Without going into great detail, the fearless Amarr fleet was utterly surprised by an enemy that possessed incredible destructive power and remarkably advanced battle tactics. This, coupled with the unforgivable impetuousness of our fleet's leadership, resulted in the near-total annihilation of our warships, at an estimated cost of only one-third of the Jovian armada. We were never again to take to the field of battle against that most dangerous and mysterious opponent. However, while some ships escaped, in less than six hours of battle we left behind a vast field of our dead and dying ships. Today, this system – known now only as Atioth – holds almost none of these battlefield remains, having long since been swept clean by Amarr salvagers and various scavengers. Nonetheless, this system remains an eternal reminder of the vigilance and bravery of our Grand Fleet and the sacrifices they are often called on to make in service of the Empire.
