You don't say! Well, yes, in fact, I do have something I could use you for.
You've heard of the "Athran Brotherhood"? No? Well, that's no surprise, really. They're little more than a nuisance, and few in number. But they can be a pain at times. And we're pretty sure there's a chapter of them hereabouts. But we don't know where they're hiding out. That's what I want you to find out for me, actually. There's a small station built into an old asteroid near here. Used to be a mining outpost till they hollowed the thing out. It's been abandoned for a few years now, but some rumors of activity in that area have been surfacing. I need you to go check those rumors out and let me know what you find. Seem like something you'd be interested in? |
The Athran Brotherhood |
---|
Sometimes calling itself "The Scions of Athra," the Athran Brotherhood is a group of Khanid secessionists with headquarters located on the Khanid homeworld of Amarr Prime (called Athra in the Old Khanid tongue). This group tends to rise perhaps every other generation or so, seemingly from its own ashes, making trouble for local government and interstellar trade alike.
Given the many large pirate organizations and other independent "freebooters" of New Eden, not to mention the constant weight of intergalactic politics and the ongoing "Minmatar Problem," Amarr rulers cannot generally spare a large-scale military effort to deal with these relatively minor troublemakers. Perhaps this is the reason the Brotherhood seems never to die, but always reappears just when authorities start to think they've rid themselves of the nuisance. |
Warp-in
- Single pocket without gate.
- Approach the mission objective (Abandoned Mining Station). Make it visible in the overview by enabling 'Types - Celestial - Large Collidable Object'.
- The Station is 40km away from warp-in. The mission is flagged as complete when within 5km of the station.

Yes. We put a covert ops ship out there around the same time you left for your last mission, and the pilot corroborated your story. He also reports that the remaining Athrans pulled out as soon as you left. Fortunately, he was able to trail them to another location in <System>.
<Pilot>, I want you to head out there and find out what's going on. See what these Athrans are up to, and report any suspicious activity back to me. And if they open fire on you again, you're fully authorized to shoot back. Don't take any chances. |
Battle Tips |
---|
Always be ready to warp out if you start taking heavy damage, whether in a mission or in lawless space. Sometimes it's a good idea to have a jump route selected before going into a mission so you can simply click your autopilot to get out quickly; this is a valid approach only with relatively small ships, though. Eventually, once you get into something like a Battleship, aligning to warp can take so long — especially if you begin once you're already taking heavy damage — that your ship might be destroyed by the time you actually start your warp.
Remember too that if you take damage in battle, you can always return to a nearby station for repairs; also be sure to replenish your ammunition while you're there if you're running low. Combat in EVE can be deadly and costly, so do what you can to cut your losses. "It's better to warp away and fight again another day." |

Well, it seems they're simply trying to disrupt the local infrastructure. What they seek to gain by doing so, I don't know... but that's the terrorist mentality for you.
But what's more interesting is that I've discovered they have an ammunitions depot not far from here. If we can take it out, we'll seriously disrupt their plans, whatever they might be. In fact, they have a Bestower full of explosives docking shortly: Get over there and take out that ship, then deal with the depot itself. The Athrans seem to have vanished, so either we dealt with the last of them, or the remaining few have gone deep into hiding. Either way, it looks like we've seen the end of their plotting.
All that remains is for you to give a report to the Assistant Chief Security Officer for Nugoeihuvi Corporation. He's currently at a meeting at our office in <System>. So how about it? We know who their leader is, [player name]: some woman called Cosensin Thrand. And it seems she's hiding out in this very star system. Now we can take these nut-jobs out once and for all.
I'll upload the coordinates of the deadspace location they're using as a hideout. Get on out there and deal with these creeps, and you'll be well rewarded. Good luck! . |
