"HI know the security screening process at this station has been time-consuming and a bit, well, intrusive. Now that you have passed our various tests, however, I feel confident that I can now let you in on the reason you are here.
One of our regional governors had recently been planning an unannounced visit to one of the new planetary command centers in a nearby system. For security reasons, this information was restricted to only those in the governor's inner circle, to include the commander of his personal security detail. Well, this commander decided to test his internal security prior to this event, to best ensure the governor's safe travel. So, for this exercise, he created a painstakingly detailed agenda, identical in every detail to an actual state visit. In this scenario, the governor was to travel by chartered high-speed maglev train to a number of the new planetary command centers. As the Governor's decoy train traveled through a large canyon, however, a series of explosive charges detonated on the rail line, sending the train off its track and into the canyon wall. As it turned out, the security commander's ruse had worked perfectly; someone in the governor's inner circle had tipped his or her hand and provided information to unknown assassins. So far, however, we have not been able to determine the traitor's identity, and each member of the inner circle is vehemently denying any involvement, despite our best chemical interrogations. So, what this investigation will likely boil down to is to what clues can be solved from the train wreckage, the destroyed maglev track sections, and the soil around the site of the blasts. We need you to transport several investigative teams, along with a considerable amount of equipment, to a nearby station where they will then be transported via shuttle to the planet. Will you take on this mission? |
