Alliance Tournament

The Alliance Tournament is a three-week-long annual event where the various alliances of New Eden put together teams of pilots and try to defeat each other in combat. The event is organised by CCP, and the prizes include PLEX, ship SKINs, and unique blueprints for otherwise unobtainable ships.

Rules

The rules of the tournament tend to change slightly from year to year. The current set of rules can be found on the EVE Online website. [1] A very brief rundown is given here.

The tournament is a single-stage, double elimination tournament with 64 teams allowed to enter. Each team can field up to 12 pilots, flying ships with a combined point value of 100 or less. Matches end when all of one team's ships are destroyed, or after 10 minutes (in which case the winner is determined by the point value of their ships remaining on the field).

Teams may have no more than 2 of each type of ship, and may not field more than 1 logistics cruiser, 1 tech one support cruiser, or 2 tech one support frigates. In addition, each ship has a point value that limits how many of them can be fielded by one team; no team can field more than 100 points of ships. The point values range from 2 (tech one frigates) to 19 (marauders and faction battleships).

Various items or modules are not allowed to be used in the tournament, for example:

• Faction, COSMOS, Deadspace, and Officer modules are not allowed.
• Hardwirings giving a bonus of more than 3% are not allowed.
• Boosters are not allowed.

Prize Ships

Since the 7th Alliance Tournament in YC 111 (2009), special edition frigates and cruisers have been given out as prizes to the winning teams. Only 50 of each type of frigate or cruiser were ever awarded.
