Mission Statement
+
The Averon Mining Campus, originally the Amarr Mining Campus, was one of several campuses within EVE University. The first EVE University Campus to be established beyond the corp's headquarters, it was based in Shemah in the Kador region between 2012 and 2020, before moving to Averon in the Everyshore region for closer proximity to other campuses from 2020 until its closing in 2022. This page represents AMC as of its last moments of activity, and contents below have been unaltered. As of June 2022, the Uni no longer maintains a presence in Shemah or Averon, with the Main Community formed as a replacement.
The Amarr Mining Campus was founded to provide EVE University students with the opportunity to learn how to mine efficiently and safely. This includes giving advice for solo mining and providing organised fleet operations. All of this will be provided in a friendly and supportive environment.

Goals of the Amarr Mining Campus:
+
Mission Statement
* Teach students how to mine, co-operate, and function in fleet mining operation with utmost efficiency.
+
The Averon Mining Campus was founded to provide EVE University students with the opportunity to learn how to mine efficiently and safely.
* Inform students about ways to maximize the profits and benefits that come with organized mining.

* Introduce students to the basics of participating and running in a mining fleet and including the necessary paperwork.

* Support students in organizing their own personal mining operations, including introducing basic spreadsheets.

* Encourage students to seek out and create their own mining influenced content.

Background and Overview
+
Our mission includes giving advice for solo mining and providing organized fleet operations. The Averon Mining Campus enables a cooperative effort in mining operations and educates its members about the most basic and fundamental activity in EVE Online - without which you wouldn’t have your ships - mining.
The Amarr Mining Campus was initiated by Seranti Olerie, Ubermensch Invictus and Vger Starseed in March 2012. However, Seranti Olerie and Ubermensch Invictus have retired their position in the AMC and moved on to other things in Eve.

A number of criteria were set up to choose a suitable location for the AMC, which included:
+
You will learn how to maximize your productivity in a supportive environment when in Shared Cans, and can frequently enjoy ‘boosts’ provided by other AMC members in Bring Your Own Can operations. Members will also have the opportunity to get used to managing spreadsheets to help keep track of mining fleets, and how to arrange their own. Our members aim to be helpful and engaging, helping with more advanced topics along the way, making the AMC an ideal place to practice mining, industry and research.
*A decent distance from Aldrat (E-UNI HQ).

*Reasonable distance from one of the major Trade Hubs.

*An abundance of asteroid belts that contain high quality (+5 and +10) ores, in a quiet constellation with a 50% refinery station.

*Reasonable distance away from low security systems, as well as any ice belts (popular for gankers).

The AMC is now in it's 5th location, with all previous locations closed, but still remaining classified.

Questions
+
A number of criteria were set up to choose a suitable location for AMC, concerning its seclusion, accessibility to a central trade hub, profitability, and also the variety among the activities possible around the campus.
If you've any questions you can ask in our chat channel Amarr Mining Campus.  One of the more experienced Amarr Mining Campus members can help you with any recruitment issues.

If you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or advice regarding the AMC or anything you'd like to be handled privately, Department officers are available to assist.
+
In September 2020 the Amarr Mining Campus moved from its home in Amarr space and relocated to the Averon system in Gallente space. At this time it was decided to rebrand as the Averon Mining Campus.

Ships to Bring
+
Joining the Averon Mining Campus
You must bring a combat capable ship to the AMC in case of  WT attacks.  Fly whatever you have the skills to fly effectively, whether that is tackle frigate or attack battlecruiser.

If you do not have an OOC hauler (see guide for creating one), then we recommend you fly a shuttle to the campus location and ask another member with an OOC hauler to help bring your venture or barge to the AMC.

If you wish, we also have a number of barges, exhumers and ventures available for sale/loan.  Please contact an AMC officer about loaning one.

We also recommend bringing a PvE ship as we frequently have mission running fleets.

Using the Hangars
+
The AMC is looking for EVE University members with an interest and a desire to invest in mining in the long term. This ranges from mining in ore and ice belts, ore anomalies and moons in our systems, to operating in wormholes - covertly harvesting gas in unknown space. All current members of EVE University are welcome to join us. Head on down to campus and say hello!
Hangar Divisions
Campus Rules and Procedures
+
Items to bring
General
+
You should bring your fastest ship and you can contact people on campus to ferry your other items to the AMC if needed. A lot of mining modules and ships are provided by the AMC’s own industry and internal logistics. There are also members in the AMC willing to ship items from the trade hubs if required, typically the local one. During wartime, remember not to bring what you can’t afford to lose. The AMC can provide ECM Griffins for free if requested.
*As for all Eve University projects, the EVE University Rules take precedence.

*Do not buy or sell within 5 jumps from home station except for NPC seeded items such as skillbooks. This rule does apply to out of campus and out of corp ALTs too.

*During any campus activity join the AMC Channel in Mumble, or at least to be able to listen.

*Do not mine or stay undocked while AFK.

*Try to avoid being docked up AFK for long in home system to secure its location.

*Help other campus members to learn.

*Fly what you can afford to lose.

PvP
+
Alts
*Running PVP ops in AMC is not forbidden, but kills and losses must be kept at an absolute minimum.
+
The Averon Mining Campus is currently open to Alts from any Ivy League members. We do not currently accept +5 (NAP) or +10 (Friends) characters or Alumni. In general, any Alt that participates in an AMC operation needs to be approved by an AMC Officer in advance.
*If there is any event that results in a killmail or lossmail, this has to be commented on the killboard.

*Eve University Rules of Engagement apply to any PVP activity within the AMC.

PvE
+
Moreover, contact an officer, or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord, to have your alts added to the access list for the AMC chat.
*Mission rewards must not be shared with an AMC fleet unless it is a specific mission fleet.

Local Chat
+
Campus Rules and Procedures
*Never use the local chat to talk about anything AMC related.
+
General
*Avoid using local chat channel(s) if possible.
+
* As for all EVE University campuses, the EVE University Rules take precedence.
 +
* During any campus activity join the AMC channel in Mumble, at least to be able to listen.
 +
* Do not mine or stay undocked while AFK. This is for your own safety, as war targets can attack you without interference from CONCORD even in high-sec space.
 +
* Do not place a MTU on any asteroid belts within 6 jumps of the home system. The exception to this rule is for operations and with FC permission.
 +
* Help other campus members to learn.
 +
* Fly what you can afford to lose.

Communication
+
PvP
*AMC Campus communication are "open comms" by default.
+
* Running PvP ops at AMC is not forbidden, but kills and losses must be kept at an absolute minimum.
*When first entering the campus Mumble, please wait a moment before speaking so as not to interrupt any ongoing communication.
+
* The only exception to the allowed PvP ops is war targets, which can only be engaged for rescue operations or with AMC Officer permission. Instead, dock up until they leave.
*When running a fleet, move to an AMC fleet channel in Mumble to keep the main channel free for normal communication.
+
* The EVE University Rules of Engagement apply to any PvP activity within the AMC.

Bookmarking
+
PvE
*Do not share any AMC related bookmarks in the Corpation Bookmarks.
+
Mission rewards must not be shared with an AMC fleet unless it is a specific mission fleet. Please refrain from taking over someone’s site if they’re in the campus, and respect the rights of other players to the content of the sites even if they are not in the Uni.
*To share AMC related bookmarks use the Bookmark Container in the Home Station Hanger.

Alts
+
Local chat
The Amarr Mining Campus is currently open to Alts from any Ivy League members and alumni. We do not include +5 (NAP) or +10 (Friends) for two main reasons:
+
Local chat is advised to be kept open in a separate window, set up so that the minimum amount of conversation is presented in favour of a longer member list.
#Our priority is not to help +5/+10s make or maximize ISK or teach them about mining.  They have their own corp resources for that.

#We prefer to keep the operation of the AMC as secure as possible while still open and accessible to E-UNI players.  Admittedly, it is at times a delicate and difficult balance to maintain.

Alt Rules while at the AMC
+
Communication
*Any Alt that participate in a AMC operation needs to be approved by an Amarr Mining Campus Officer in advance.
+
Feel free to enter the AMC channel in the Mumble server, but please respect the current conversation when entering. If there is chatter specific to a particular fleet, it is polite to use one of the provided subchannels for said fleet.
*Each Fleet Commander can access a list of approved members and alts when running a fleet.

Mining Operations
+
The in-game chat channel is: AMC (EVE Uni)
Every member of the AMC is encouraged to join any existing AMC mining operation or to plan an AMC mining operation as a Fleet Commander on their own.  There is no need for special skills to run or join a mining operation.  If you're planning on running a mining operation, you only need a spreadsheet and people to mine, haul, and scout.  Please try to ensure that there is only one organized AMC mining operation at a time.

Most of the time AMC Shared Can operations are announced on our Mailing List so everybody can see if it's possible to join the operation.  Often, there are spontaneous operations that aren't announced beforehand.<br />
+
Bookmarking
Frequently there are BYOCs running that you can join, ask in our chat channel to see if there is one running at the moment.
+
Wormhole bookmarks can be created in the AMC Exploration folder within the Corporation Locations. For mapping purposes we use the AMC-Mapper.

To participate in a mining fleet you may use any mining capable ship fitted with mining lasers. Further you are able to use any appropriate hauling or boosting ship after consulting the fleet commander. You do not have to bring any specific type of ship but use the most appropriate fitted to your fleet role. If you require a Venture or Mining Barge, you can ask for a 2-week loan following the same rules as the Eve University Mining Loaner Fleet or purchase one at a reduced cost.
+
Mission fleets can similarly make use of the AMC Mission Fleet folder; and general bookmarks can otherwise be left in the corresponding container within the Freshman Hangar at HQ, to be shared with other AMC members.

Mining Booster/Bring Your Own Can Fleets (BYOC)
+
Mining operations
A BYOC mining operation boosts your mining yield and mining laser range dependent on the boosters fitted and skills.
+
Archive:Mining fleets
 +
Every member of the AMC is encouraged to join any existing AMC mining operation or to plan an AMC mining operation as a Fleet Commander on their own. There is no need for special skills to run or join a mining operation. If you're planning on running a mining operation, you only need a spreadsheet and people to mine, haul, and scout. Please try to ensure that there is only one organized AMC mining operation at a time.

All BYOC operations are run by volunteer boosting pilots. It is courteous to thank the boosting pilot by tipping a part of the increased yield.
+
A majority of the time, Shared Can operations are announced via the in-game calendar, the AMC subforum and the MOTD, so everyone can see whether they'd be able to join in advance. But there are also spontaneous operations that aren't announced beforehand. We also run frequent Archive:BYOCs that you can join. Simply ask in the chat channel for information on what is going on.

Shared Can
+
To participate in a mining fleet you may use any mining-capable ship fitted with mining lasers. You can also use any appropriate hauling or boosting ship after consulting with the fleet commander. You do not have to bring any specific type of ship but use the most appropriate for your fleet role. If you require a Venture or Mining Barge, note that there are Venture hulls available for free in the Freshman Hangar, and barges can be purchased at a reduced price. Other fully-fitted mining ships are also available from the campus.
Shared Can mining operations are organized by a volunteer fleet commander. The fleet commander plans to have boosters and haulers available at the planed operation time. Every AMC member can join the mining operation for as long as they can afford the time. After the mining operation, the ore is sold with the AMC Buy-Back Service and split up between the members equally according to their attended time.

Running an AMC Shared Can Mining Operation
+
Bring Your Own Can (BYOC)
While running Amarr Mining Campus Shared Can Mining Operations please use the following rules and guidelines to run the operation smoothly:
+
A BYOC (Bring Your Own Can) mining operation involves an Orca or Porpoise pilot providing boosts to your mining yield and mining laser range, reducing also the capacitor usage of your mining lasers so that they can cycle faster. All BYOC operations are run by volunteer boosting pilots. It is courteous, though entirely optional, to gift the Orca pilot with a tip as a thank you for the increased yield. Anyone can lead a BYOC, and being a boss is easier than you think.

In this section HH:MM should be replaced with the current eve server time.
+
Shared Can (SC)
 +
Shared Can mining operations are organized by a volunteer fleet commander. The fleet commander arranges for boosters and haulers to be available during the operation. Every AMC member can join the mining operation for as long as they wish. After the mining operation, the ore is sold with the AMC Buyback Service and divided between the members according to their time spent in-fleet. For information on running a Shared Can fleet, click here.

In Shared Can operations, the fleet commanders need to keep track of each person’s contribution.
+
Gas harvesting
In the AMC, this is measured by the time each member spent mining, hauling, boosting or scouting.
+
For those able or willing to 'huff gas', some AMC members occasionally provide opportunities to collaboratively harvest gas in wormhole space. There are no restrictions on the ships you'd fly in these operations, ranging from combat-based ships to Ventures and Prospects for a better yield. These are similar to 'BYOC' operations, although boosts may not be available. Gas sites are found via exploration near AMC, and familiarity with the mapper is very useful.

Any announcements while participating in the mining operation must be written to the fleet chat.
+
Wormhole mining
If you fail to announce your ON/OFF times, you will not be properly paid due to a lack of an accurate time(s).
+
In addition to gas, wormholes also contain ore and ice sites. The latter, in particular, can be found in shattered wormholes and, given all classes of ice are present, it isn't rare for the campus members to seize the opportunity or band together in an improvised operation whenever one such wormhole spawns and is detected near AMC.

Follow the simple steps below to ensure you get the correct payout for the fleet:
+
Site mining
 +
While running missions or exploring, sites with better -or different- ores than the ones typically found at the local belts can be found. There are also ore anomalies that spontaneously appear in the area, and ice belts in selected systems. Ice mining is indeed supported by AMC, and a frequent activity among the campus members. Coordination for ice mining is often done via the Discord.

Miners
+
Services
While you are a member of the mining operation you need to follow the announcements from the fleet commander regarding the ore and asteroid belts you're mining.
+
AMC Buyback
 +
One of the key services of the Averon Mining Campus is the AMC Buyback Service, which lets you sell your ore, gas and ice directly from the AMC home system. This service offers a higher payout than a new player would otherwise get without significant skills and standings, benefiting from both the higher value of the refined materials along with the prices in <font color="white">Jita</font>, where we sell them - not to mention the logistics of moving it.

Please check before putting a mining laser on a new asteroid while mining to ensure that nobody is already mining from this asteroid (easiest way is Alt-Click "View").
+
The fee for this service is 4% of the refined value of the ore, ice and gas submitted, which is automatically deducted from the corresponding Jita-buy prices by the corresponding spreadsheet, so you don’t need to work it out. Said fee helps support the AMC services and hangars - for example, the Half-Priced Mining Barges provided by the campus are funded out of this ISK.

Announcing start/end times
+
With this point in mind, it is recommended to use this service, as not only would you save a lot of effort and typically make more ISK, but you'd help out future AMC members and the campus. Please refer to the corresponding wiki page for more information.
LASERS ON HH:MM  this is to be used when you start mining.

LASERS OFF HH:MM  this is to be used when you stop mining, or leave your computer for more than your Laser’s cycle time.
+
AMC Refining
When changing belts or re-targeting asteroids, you need not give a lasers off. Lasers off is only required for when you stop mining and the operation has not been ended.
+
The AMC Refining Service offers a perfect reprocessing yield at the AMC refinery. This allows our members to get more materials out of their ore or ice than they would normally do - the outcome of the service will be higher than a perfect refine with 0% tax in an NPC Station.

Jet-Can Naming
+
There is no fee for this service.
For Shared Can operations, you will be mining into jetcans, which the Haulers will collect to haul back to station.

Try to share a can with somebody when possible, but if there are none in reach, create your own.

We have a naming scheme for jetcans, as follows:
+
Please refer to the corresponding wiki page for more information.

FLEET HH:MM this can is in use, and was jettisoned at the given time.
+
Free T1 Mining Ships
 +
If you are concerned that you may not have a suitable mining ship upon joining, the Averon Mining Campus offers a free Venture to its members. Simply take one out of the Corporation Hangar at HQ, or ask any Freshman to pick it for you if you are yet to receive that title. Please make sure to follow the instructions from the EVE University Corporate Hangars page.

FULL HH:MM this can is full to 27,500m3 or as near as possible. It will be picked up by a hauler. Do not change the time, only change the caption. The time is required to know when the can might expire.
+
Free Modules and Charges
 +
During your stay at the Averon Mining Campus you can make use of the modules, hulls, drones and charges provided through the Corporation Hangar at HQ. These include mining and exploration equipment, burst charges and mining crystals, among other items. A complete list can be found here.

PULL HH:MM this can is not yet full, but is no longer being used, such as when you run out of asteroids to mine, or have moved out of range,  but haven't yet filled the can. It will be picked up by a hauler. Do not change the time, only change the caption.  The time is required to know when the can might expire.
+
For those items pertaining to the campus inventory, and sold instead at Jita-sell price, please contact a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord with your request.

This may be subject to change following this poll. Vote if you wish to see it change or remain the same.
+
Free Station Containers
 +
We provide Station Containers to help you organize your hangars. Just ask a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord with the required amount.

Haulers
+
Half-Priced Mining Barges
While being member of the mining operation you need to follow the announcements from the fleet commander regarding location the ore needs to be hauled to.
+
To help new members get up to speed as soon as they train the necessary skills, the Averon Mining Campus offers Mining Barges (i.e. Procurer, Retriever and Covetor) at a reduced price.

Announcing start/end times
+
These hulls are sold at half the corresponding Jita-sell price and, when a fully-fitted barge is requested, any modules and drones made available for free through the Corporation Hangar would also be included free of charge in the fitted ship. For any additional modules and rigs, the full Jita-sell price would apply.
HAULING ON HH:MM this is to be used when you start hauling.

HAULING OFF HH:MM this is to be used when you stop hauling, or leave your computer for more then 2 minutes.
+
Given its purpose, a maximum of five (5) barges per uni member can be acquired at a reduced price under this program, although further mining barges can nevertheless be purchased at full price once said limit is met. To make a request, please contact a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord.

While you are waiting for new cans to be full you do not need to announce HAULING OFF.
+
Other Mining Ships
 +
In addition to the above barges, a number of mining and Industrial Command Ships can also be acquired at Jita-sell price from the campus, with those items made available for free through the Corporation Hangar still included free of charge in this case.

Contracting the ore
+
The available fits can be found in the AMC Forum Section post here
At the end of the operation, or when you stop hauling, you need to contract all the ore you've hauled at the station to the fleet commander.

Boosters
+
Concerning the latter, it shall be noted that Medium Drone Mining Augmentor rigs are available as an alternative for the Porpoise; and the Orca can be requested without rigs if trading the extra tank for mining yield would be desired - but the Large Drone Mining Augmentor rigs will have to be sourced independently.
While you are a member of the mining operation you need to follow the announcements from the fleet commander regarding the system you're providing boosts in.

Announcing start/end times
+
Once again, please contact a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord to make a request.
BOOST ON HH:MM this is to be used when you start boosting.

BOOST OFF HH:MM this is to be used when you stop boosting, or leave your computer for more than your booster cycle time.
+
BPO Library
 +
We have a large BPO library available for members to make copies for their own use, along with manufacturing and research facilities. Please refer to this thread for more information.

Please only announce BOOST OFF when you're leaving the operation. While traveling between belts or systems the same rule as to all others apply.
+
Local Ore Hauling Service
 +
We have a local ore hauling service available within our constellation to members who mine outside of our home system and are unable to haul their ore back to Averon themselves. This service is intended to help them take advantage of our Buyback and Refine programs. Please refer to this thread for more information.

If boosting on grid:  Before moving to a new belt, inform the fleet of your intention to move.  At half your maximum velocity ask the fleet to "cycle lasers". On entering warp announce to the fleet "in warp". Once your ship has landed on grid with the fleet, activate your boosts and say, "boosts back on" in Mumble. This allows fleet members to cycle their lasers and avoid them losing the yield from a failed cycle.
+
Useful Links
Scouts
+
Ice harvesting<br>
When EVE University is at war, we require you send out scouts to the nearby systems to watch for war targets.

If any war targets come near the mining operation, the operation should dock up to be safe.

Fleet Commanders
+
Ore Table by Cerlestes.
When you're planning to run a mining operation, please prepare the necessary paperwork (Spreadsheet) and the MOTD before starting the fleet.

Spreadsheet
+
Mining Links
As an AMC FC, you are required to keep track of your Fleet; recording each member's participation, share weights, amount of ore mined, prices of ore, etc. To save all the required information, the AMC provides the 'AMC Buyback Spreadsheet'. Please make sure you're sharing the spreadsheet with "anyone with the link" as you will write this link to the MOTD.

It's not as hard as it sounds - it's actually pretty simple, so please do not be afraid of becoming a Fleet Commander because of the spreadsheet business. If you ever get stuck, just ask around and there's bound to be someone who can give you a hand.

MOTD (Message of the Day)
When your Fleet is running, you must create an MOTD (Message of the Day). You must place all required important information in the MOTD for the whole Fleet to see.

To set the MOTD follow these steps:

#Right-Click on the 'Fleet' Tab

#In the drop-down, select the 'Settings' option

#There should be an MOTD text box. This is where you type out your MOTD.

MOTD Template:

Time Started: HH:MM

Estimated Time End: HH:MM

Location: (never publish the full system name)

Priority Ore:

Spreadsheet Link:

Reminders of Procedures: Can Naming, Time Announcements

AMC Buy-Back
While you are a member of the Amarr Mining Campus, you may use the AMC Buy-Back service to sell your ore or minerals directly within the AMC Home System and some of the surrounding systems. You will be paid out as the Buy-Back is accepted and afterwards refining, hauling, and selling will be taken over by the AMC team.

The price that is paid through the Buy-Back is slightly below the Jita prices to make sure that all costs for hauling and selling are covered. Any difference between the payout and the actual sale value is used to run the AMC. For example the Free T1 Modules/Ships and T2 Module Lottery is paid out of this profit.

With this point in mind, it is recommended to use this service to support the AMC for further members. This will also save you from hauling ore or minerals to market yourself.  When you use this AMC service, please refer to the corresponding Wiki Page page.

Free T1 Mining Ship
When you join the Amarr Mining Campus if you are concerned that you do not have a usable ship for mining, the AMC offers a free Venture.

Further, the AMC provides you with a Loaner Fleet Service and slightly reduced cost Mining Barge.

To get the Venture you can take one out of the Corporation Hanger in the Home Station. Please make sure to follow the instructions from the Hanger section.

Free T1 Modules
While you are in the Amarr Mining Campus you can make use of the following Modules to fit your ship to optimize your mining (all available items are within the cooperation hanger in home station).  If you do not see an item in the corporation hanger, please contact an officer about the availability of the module you are seeking.

There is also a large number of T1 and T2 modules and ships available for purchase from the AMC, just contact an officer to request these.

Loaner Fleet
The Amarr Mining Campus offers, same as the EVE University, the ability to borrow mining related ships from our "loaner fleet".

Currently the loaner fleet includes the Retriever and Covetor.

Loan Policies
Mining ship loans are made with the hope that they will allow you to earn the funds to purchase a mining vessels on your own. Participation in AMC operations is optional but encouraged.

Requirements
#You must be member of Amarr Mining Campus

#You must be in the Amarr Mining Campus Home System.

Policies
*Loans are made for two weeks. Extended loans will be granted based on individual decisions.

*Contract will be issued by Cartilige Deninard for the specified ship and fitting.

*The ship must be returned with the loan fitting at the end of the loan period.

*In the case of ship loss, inform Cartilige Deninard as soon as possible with the kill mail and an explanation what had happened. In this case borrowers are expected to replace the lost ship and fittings.

*Each AMC member may have only one loaned ship at a time.

*Ships are loaned without rigs. If you return the ship with fitted rigs, we can not return the rigs, nor will we offer to repay or replace.

Placing a Loan Request
#Send a forum mail to any AMC Officer.  Include the ship type and fitting you wish to loan.  If no fit is requested, the ship will come without any as standard.

#A contract will be issued in the AMC home station.

#Accept the contract next time you are online.

#After the loan period, please return the ship in the AMC home station with a contract back to any AMC Officer.

T2 Module Lottery
A lottery is conducted for every shared can mining fleet in which all participants have a random (equal) chance of winning a T2 module from the following list:

*3 x Mining Laser Upgrade II

*1 x Modulated Strip Miner II

*1 x Survey Scanner II

*1 x Ice Harvester II

*1 x Gas Cloud Harvester II

*4 x Miner II

*10 x Exotic Dancers, Female

The purpose of this lottery is to give newer players a chance at acquiring T2 items while they gradually skill up and make enough ISK to get into bigger and better mining ships.

There is no need to request for the lottery for a mining fleet that was run within the AMC. Every AMC mining fleet that uses the Buy-Back Service is automatically considered. The winner will not be announced publicly. AMC Officers are not allowed to participate in this lottery.

E-UNI Emblem.png This page's intent is to provide information on the the history of EVE University. The information on this page is no longer current.
AMCtest.png

The Averon Mining Campus, originally the Amarr Mining Campus, was one of several campuses within EVE University. The first EVE University Campus to be established beyond the corp's headquarters, it was based in Shemah in the Kador region between 2012 and 2020, before moving to Averon in the Everyshore region for closer proximity to other campuses from 2020 until its closing in 2022. This page represents AMC as of its last moments of activity, and contents below have been unaltered. As of June 2022, the Uni no longer maintains a presence in Shemah or Averon, with the Main Community formed as a replacement.

Mission Statement

The Averon Mining Campus was founded to provide EVE University students with the opportunity to learn how to mine efficiently and safely.

Our mission includes giving advice for solo mining and providing organized fleet operations. The Averon Mining Campus enables a cooperative effort in mining operations and educates its members about the most basic and fundamental activity in EVE Online - without which you wouldn’t have your ships - mining.

Background

The Amarr Mining Campus was initiated by Seranti Olerie, Ubermensch Invictus and Vger Starseed in March 2012. However, they have retired their position at AMC and moved on to other things in EVE.

A number of criteria were set up to choose a suitable location for AMC, concerning its seclusion, accessibility to a central trade hub, profitability, and also the variety among the activities possible around the campus.

In September 2020 the Amarr Mining Campus moved from its home in Amarr space and relocated to the Averon system in Gallente space. At this time it was decided to rebrand as the Averon Mining Campus.

The AMC is currently headquartered at Averon VII - Moon 3 - Caldari Business Tribunal Information Center

Leadership

The Averon Mining Campus is currently managed by:

 • Alpha GoreSnorkel (Officer)
 • Byron Thani (Officer)
 • Edswifa Rova (Officer)
 • Samsam James (Officer)
 • Spanktracula (Officer)
 • William Archer (Officer)

Joining the Averon Mining Campus

The AMC is looking for EVE University members with an interest and a desire to invest in mining in the long term. This ranges from mining in ore and ice belts, ore anomalies and moons in our systems, to operating in wormholes - covertly harvesting gas in unknown space. All current members of EVE University are welcome to join us. Head on down to campus and say hello!

Items to bring

You should bring your fastest ship and you can contact people on campus to ferry your other items to the AMC if needed. A lot of mining modules and ships are provided by the AMC’s own industry and internal logistics. There are also members in the AMC willing to ship items from the trade hubs if required, typically the local one. During wartime, remember not to bring what you can’t afford to lose. The AMC can provide ECM Griffins for free if requested.

Alts

The Averon Mining Campus is currently open to Alts from any Ivy League members. We do not currently accept +5 (NAP) or +10 (Friends) characters or Alumni. In general, any Alt that participates in an AMC operation needs to be approved by an AMC Officer in advance.

Moreover, contact an officer, or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord, to have your alts added to the access list for the AMC chat.

Campus Rules and Procedures

General

 • As for all EVE University campuses, the EVE University Rules take precedence.
 • During any campus activity join the AMC channel in Mumble, at least to be able to listen.
 • Do not mine or stay undocked while AFK. This is for your own safety, as war targets can attack you without interference from CONCORD even in high-sec space.
 • Do not place a MTU on any asteroid belts within 6 jumps of the home system. The exception to this rule is for operations and with FC permission.
 • Help other campus members to learn.
 • Fly what you can afford to lose.

PvP

 • Running PvP ops at AMC is not forbidden, but kills and losses must be kept at an absolute minimum.
 • The only exception to the allowed PvP ops is war targets, which can only be engaged for rescue operations or with AMC Officer permission. Instead, dock up until they leave.
 • The EVE University Rules of Engagement apply to any PvP activity within the AMC.

PvE

Mission rewards must not be shared with an AMC fleet unless it is a specific mission fleet. Please refrain from taking over someone’s site if they’re in the campus, and respect the rights of other players to the content of the sites even if they are not in the Uni.

Local chat

Local chat is advised to be kept open in a separate window, set up so that the minimum amount of conversation is presented in favour of a longer member list.

Communication

Feel free to enter the AMC channel in the Mumble server, but please respect the current conversation when entering. If there is chatter specific to a particular fleet, it is polite to use one of the provided subchannels for said fleet.

The in-game chat channel is: AMC (EVE Uni)

Bookmarking

Wormhole bookmarks can be created in the AMC Exploration folder within the Corporation Locations. For mapping purposes we use the AMC-Mapper.

Mission fleets can similarly make use of the AMC Mission Fleet folder; and general bookmarks can otherwise be left in the corresponding container within the Freshman Hangar at HQ, to be shared with other AMC members.

Mining operations

Main article: Archive:Mining fleets

Every member of the AMC is encouraged to join any existing AMC mining operation or to plan an AMC mining operation as a Fleet Commander on their own. There is no need for special skills to run or join a mining operation. If you're planning on running a mining operation, you only need a spreadsheet and people to mine, haul, and scout. Please try to ensure that there is only one organized AMC mining operation at a time.

Bring Your Own Can (BYOC)

A BYOC (Bring Your Own Can) mining operation involves an Orca or Porpoise pilot providing boosts to your mining yield and mining laser range, reducing also the capacitor usage of your mining lasers so that they can cycle faster. All BYOC operations are run by volunteer boosting pilots. It is courteous, though entirely optional, to gift the Orca pilot with a tip as a thank you for the increased yield. Anyone can lead a BYOC, and being a boss is easier than you think.

Shared Can (SC)

Shared Can mining operations are organized by a volunteer fleet commander. The fleet commander arranges for boosters and haulers to be available during the operation. Every AMC member can join the mining operation for as long as they wish. After the mining operation, the ore is sold with the AMC Buyback Service and divided between the members according to their time spent in-fleet. For information on running a Shared Can fleet, click here.

Gas harvesting

For those able or willing to 'huff gas', some AMC members occasionally provide opportunities to collaboratively harvest gas in wormhole space. There are no restrictions on the ships you'd fly in these operations, ranging from combat-based ships to Ventures and Prospects for a better yield. These are similar to 'BYOC' operations, although boosts may not be available. Gas sites are found via exploration near AMC, and familiarity with the mapper is very useful.

Wormhole mining

In addition to gas, wormholes also contain ore and ice sites. The latter, in particular, can be found in shattered wormholes and, given all classes of ice are present, it isn't rare for the campus members to seize the opportunity or band together in an improvised operation whenever one such wormhole spawns and is detected near AMC.

Site mining

While running missions or exploring, sites with better -or different- ores than the ones typically found at the local belts can be found. There are also ore anomalies that spontaneously appear in the area, and ice belts in selected systems. Ice mining is indeed supported by AMC, and a frequent activity among the campus members. Coordination for ice mining is often done via the Discord.

Services

AMC Buyback

One of the key services of the Averon Mining Campus is the AMC Buyback Service, which lets you sell your ore, gas and ice directly from the AMC home system. This service offers a higher payout than a new player would otherwise get without significant skills and standings, benefiting from both the higher value of the refined materials along with the prices in Jita, where we sell them - not to mention the logistics of moving it.

With this point in mind, it is recommended to use this service, as not only would you save a lot of effort and typically make more ISK, but you'd help out future AMC members and the campus. Please refer to the corresponding wiki page for more information.

AMC Refining

The AMC Refining Service offers a perfect reprocessing yield at the AMC refinery. This allows our members to get more materials out of their ore or ice than they would normally do - the outcome of the service will be higher than a perfect refine with 0% tax in an NPC Station.

There is no fee for this service.

Please refer to the corresponding wiki page for more information.

Free T1 Mining Ships

If you are concerned that you may not have a suitable mining ship upon joining, the Averon Mining Campus offers a free Venture to its members. Simply take one out of the Corporation Hangar at HQ, or ask any Freshman to pick it for you if you are yet to receive that title. Please make sure to follow the instructions from the EVE University Corporate Hangars page.

Free Modules and Charges

During your stay at the Averon Mining Campus you can make use of the modules, hulls, drones and charges provided through the Corporation Hangar at HQ. These include mining and exploration equipment, burst charges and mining crystals, among other items. A complete list can be found here.

For those items pertaining to the campus inventory, and sold instead at Jita-sell price, please contact a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord with your request.

Free Station Containers

We provide Station Containers to help you organize your hangars. Just ask a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord with the required amount.

Half-Priced Mining Barges

To help new members get up to speed as soon as they train the necessary skills, the Averon Mining Campus offers Mining Barges (i.e. Procurer, Retriever and Covetor) at a reduced price.

These hulls are sold at half the corresponding Jita-sell price and, when a fully-fitted barge is requested, any modules and drones made available for free through the Corporation Hangar would also be included free of charge in the fitted ship. For any additional modules and rigs, the full Jita-sell price would apply.

Other Mining Ships

In addition to the above barges, a number of mining and Industrial Command Ships can also be acquired at Jita-sell price from the campus, with those items made available for free through the Corporation Hangar still included free of charge in this case.

The available fits can be found in the AMC Forum Section post here

Concerning the latter, it shall be noted that Medium Drone Mining Augmentor rigs are available as an alternative for the Porpoise; and the Orca can be requested without rigs if trading the extra tank for mining yield would be desired - but the Large Drone Mining Augmentor rigs will have to be sourced independently.

Once again, please contact a Hangar Officer or drop a message in #amc-ping in the AMC Discord to make a request.

BPO Library

We have a large BPO library available for members to make copies for their own use, along with manufacturing and research facilities. Please refer to this thread for more information.

Local Ore Hauling Service

We have a local ore hauling service available within our constellation to members who mine outside of our home system and are unable to haul their ore back to Averon themselves. This service is intended to help them take advantage of our Buyback and Refine programs. Please refer to this thread for more information.
