For a summary of EVE University's rules and code of conduct, see EVE University Rules.

Within EVE University we have several members who either stream their gameplay, or record it for publishing later. While this is permitted, we have some rules to try and maintain privacy for members and operational security. Please note that in addition to these rules, some communities may have specific rules regarding streaming or video publishing within the area of the campus.

Streaming

Streaming is transmitting video or audio in real time or near real time. This is commonly done using Twitch.pngTwitch.

By default, streaming fleets and other operations in EVE University is not allowed. The reason for this is it adds increased risk to the fleet. Viewers may engage in "stream sniping" which means they use the stream to find the streamer's location in game and kill them. Some fleet members may not want to take this risk, or may want to fly a cheaper ship in view of the increased risk.

Streaming fleets and operations in EVE University is allowed if the streamer:

  • Gets prior permission from the fleet commander to stream the fleet
  • Ensures that members are aware before joining the fleet (e.g. in prior announcements and advertisements) that it will be streamed
  • Obscures any sensitive information on the stream, including corporation and fleet chat channels

Streamers may be asked to apply a delay to their streams for operational security reasons. The timing of any stream delay is at the discretion of the fleet commander

EVE University members are welcome to use the two Streaming Lounges within our Discord server for streaming to other members. These channels can be used to stream anything EVE or non-EVE related. Multiple streams can be conducted within these channels.

Video publishing

Video publishing is making a recording available for viewing after the event has taken place, for example on YouTube. This includes making a video stream recording available after a stream has finished.

Again, by default publishing recorded videos of fleets and operations in EVE University is not allowed. Recording a fleet or operation for your own use and review is permitted, however this is only allowed provided the player(s) recording and publishing the fleet:

  • Obtain the fleet commander's consent to the recording the fleet
  • Obtain the fleet commander's consent to the recording being published
  • Obscures any sensitive information on the stream, including corporation and fleet chat channels
