Lightning Strikes was a limited time event that run from 15-30 June 2020, downtime to downtime. The event had a combat site in low security and null security space, where capsuleers could fight Rogue Drones to earn materials and skill books associated with the then-new EDENCOM ships and their Vorton Projectors, among other things.

Description

From the CCP news article announcing this event:

To coincide with the end of Gathering Storm and the release of the new EDENCOM ship line, the Lightning Strikes event will run from 11:00 UTC on 15 June to 11:00 UTC on 29 June.

With secret Upwell Covert Research Facilities in lowsec and parts of nullsec having come under attack and been destroyed by Rogue Drones, Capsuleers can enter the sites and face off against the Rogue Drones, looting the Upwell tech from the wreckage.

In addition, each event site offers the chance of spawning a rare escalation that can be investigated for additional rewards.

Rewards include manufacturing and invention materials, Skill Books, and more related to the new EDENCOM ship line.

Combat Site

Main article: Upwell Covert Research Facilities

Upwell Covert Research Facilities were spawned in low security space and null security space controlled by the Intaki Syndicate, Mordu's Legion, and Outer Ring Excavations (ORE). Multiple waves of rogue drones could be fought, with a rat in the final wave as well as a can in the site dropping BPCs, skillbooks, boosters, and crafting materials for the new EDENCOM ships and their Vorton Projectors.

Notes

Due to lower than intended spawn rates on the first day, the event was extended by one day from the 29th to the 30th of June.[1][2]
