Summary
The Abaddon is the tier 3 Amarr battleship. It has a bonus to laser damage and armor resistances, but the normal bonus to laser capacitor use is conspicuously missing. This makes the Abaddon a "high skill" ship, because it requires good core skills to keep its lasers firing while powering its tank. The bonus to tank and the high damage makes the Abaddon a popular PvP ship, where its difficulty staying cap stable is also not so much of an issue.
+
The Abaddon (or "'Baddon") is a Tech 1 Amarr battleship known for its strong potential armor buffer tank. It shares this trait with its lesser counterparts the Punisher and Maller. It has high base hitpoints, a bonus to armor damage resistance, and seven low slots for armor tanking modules. Its other bonus boosts the damage of large energy turrets which gives it not only more DPS, but also more volley damage (or "alpha strike").

These two qualities, a strong armor buffer and high volley damage, make the Abaddon popular for large nullsec fights which favor ships with a lot of volley and buffer tank. In such a context, Abaddons have also been used with artillery turrets despite its energy turret bonus. In large battles, it is usually supported by Force Auxiliaries, and so its low speed (even for a battleship) doesn’t matter that much.

"Abaddon" comes from a Hebrew word meaning a place associated with destruction or with the dead. In the Greek text of Revelation 9:11 the Hebrew word is used to name a figure associated with destruction who has been variously interpreted as an angel, a fallen angel, another term for Satan, or the Antichrist.

*Basic Neut fit Abaddon (A.K.A. cheap man's Bhaalgorn). Provides about 2/3 the neut power of a neut Bhaalgorn seen in small scale fights involving Carriers and Dreadnoughts. It has the capability of neutralizing 4800 GJ every 24 seconds, with an EHP of 183k.

*Ship scanner should be used as frequently as possible to spy on targets' capacitor level, providing vital enemy intelligence to FC and avoiding wasteful energy neutralizer cycles.

*Unlike Bhaalgorn, Abaddon is rarely high on the jamming priority list. This of course, can change if enemy realizes it's a neut fit. This is countered by the med-slot ECCM module, giving a ship sensor strength of 43.1 in Radar.

*Best used with energy transfer from Guardians, as the fit is not cap stable. Every 1 GJ energy regenerated by a single Guardian is converted to 10.8 GJ neutralized on enemy ships.

The Abaddon is a highly skill intensive battleship and due to its cost shouldn't be fielded unless proper skills are able to justify its abilities.  The Abaddon is known for its extremely large tank since it is usually equipped with dual 1600mm plates and resistance modules in the low slots.  With this battleship the DPS isn't lacking either.  With plenty of the precious CPU to spare, which most Amarr pilots crave, the Mega Pulse Laser IIs can be attached in the highs making this a very dangerous target to encouter on the wrong end of the turret. Please know that an Abaddon with a 'fail' fit will only be a large liability on field since the hull isn't agile enough to sustain a high speed fleet movement and usually comes with a hefty price tag as well.  So, be prepared to be primaried and be prepared to sustain high DPS within engagements.  However, if you are part of a fleet those large energy turrets will make all the skill training worth it.
