The Bifrost is the Minmatar [[Command Destroyer]]. Following the Minmatar design principles, it has bonuses to shield and skirmish [[Command Bursts]]. In its role to provide shield bursts it competes with the [[Stork]] which has more tank but less speed. This makes the stork preferable if it can reach the required speed. In regard to skirmish bursts it competes with the [[Magus]] (and to lesser extend with the [[Draugur]]). If you have shield logi support you choose the Bifrost, if armor logi the Magus. Command Destroyers represent a versatile addition to fleets of all sizes. Being the smallest and most agile platforms for gang link technology positions them as the premier support option for fast-moving wolf packs. Unique access to Micro Jump Field Generators also allows them to perform maneuvers that rapidly reposition other ships, be they friend or foe.

Summary

Tactics

Because of the advantage that skirmish bursts provide to range control, this is the more popular of the two shield command destroyers. However, its role as a "boosher," using the Micro-Jump Field Generator, is usually more important. In addition to repositioning its own fleet, the MJFG can be used to bring enemies (particularly logi) out of position, removing key ships from the fight or making them easier to kill. However, before attempting this, the fleet members must be aware that they should not use warp scramblers on anything which the command destroyer indends to boosh.

The command destroyers were added in the December 2015 patch, sometimes called the Frostline patch.
