Speed and power; you need the first to land a hit, and the second to make it count.
- – CEO Miloise Roden
Interceptors utilize a combination of advanced alloys and electronics to reduce their effective signature radius. This, along with superior maneuverability and speed, makes them very hard to target and track, particularly for high caliber turrets.
Developer: Roden Shipyards
Roden Shipyards is the fastest growing ship manufacturer in the Federation, thanks to an extremely aggressive R&D division and extensive connections in government and military procurement communities. Roden ships are distinguished by strong armor defenses and excellent electronic capabilities. They also tend towards gunboats with exceptional range and tracking systems, and less reliance on drones than the average Federation warship.

Summary
The Ares previously held the title of Fastest Fleet Inty, but post-Rubicon this is no longer the case. The Ares shares a 4/3/3 slot layout with the Malediction, allowing it to fit a good speed fit, only slightly slower than the Malediction's. It still has 3 mids to fit two tackle modules or a tackle module and tank module for a fleet fit.
The Ares is competent at its role but has no real distinguishing features. The Malediction is generally superior with the same slot layout, being slightly faster and having a more flexible weapon system.
Skills
Recommended skills: (Medium)
- Interceptors IV *** It is highly recommended NOT to fly any Interceptor before your Interceptors skill is at least IV ***
Tactics
No sub-article about Ares roles or piloting tactics. You can write them here.
Notes
In ancient Greek mythology, Ares was the primary god of war and bravery, though he was also associated with slaughter and bloodlust.
In many languages Ares and Eris sound quite similar, and pilots should take care when reporting either ship over voice comms.

Version 22.02 2025-03-12.1 [1]
Ship warp speed changes:
- The warp speeds of all ships have been adjusted to bring them all together for similar sizes of ships.
- Grouped up all ships based on their size, such as Small, Medium, Large and Capital. Removing the 10% or +0.5AU/s bonus from Tech II ships.
- Tech II ships which need the increased warp speed for performing their specialization, such as Interceptors and Interdictors, have been given role bonuses to warp speed to keep their current warp speeds about the same while making these ships easier to identify for new players.
Version 19.06 Release 2021-07-13.1 Patch notes
