Overhauling the base Drake-class battlecruiser hull to make it their own, the Guristas Pirates have substantially expanded the drone capacity of the new Alligator-class design, and slightly improved missile systems and the propulsion drives. Despite their efforts to improve the handling of the ship, this notoriously sluggish hull's agility took a backseat to the need to pack in new drone stowage and advanced combat drone management systems. With the ability to field a full rack of launchers, a flight of upgraded medium combat drones, and formidable defensive shields, the Alligator meets the Guristas need for an assault ship capable of taking on empire patrols and supporting raids against more targets across New Eden. Summary
The Alligator feels like an expensive straight upgrade for the Drake. While its missile DPS is almost the same, with the exception of the thermal damage bonus and decreased range, the game changer is drone DPS. As a result, the total DPS could be almost twice as much.
Tank is practically the same as the Drake, making it a boat that forgives many newbie mistakes. Yet that is still not enough to solo every L3 mission, as a few have rooms capable of breaking through the Alligator's shield. Yet for the missions that do not have those rooms, the Alligator's DPS makes mission running faster.
For PvP the Alligator is an expensive clumsy Jack-of-all-trades, lacking DPS, range, or speed to perform any PvP role well.
Blueprint copies for the Alligator can be purchased from insurgency LP stores in Zarzakh or the Gurista FOB.
