Summary
The Rorqual is a capital industrial ship. It's typical role is supporting mining operations by providing Mining Foreman ganglinks and compressing ore. Due to its inability to enter highsec its fleet boosting role is taken over by the Orca, although the improvements to yield are less.
It has the ability to fit a capital tractor beam which could be used in conjunction with 'Jet Can' mining, which allow it to pull cargo containers of ore to it before compression, but due to the high price of the Rorqual many favour keeping them within the relative safety of a POS. Instead they opt for using less expensive ships for the tractor beaming of cans (Noctis), and using a industrial ship or freighter to pick up the ore. The Rorqual does have the ability to compress ore whilst running its industrial core. Compression is important as it reduces the volume of significantly. The for large mining operations with higher volumes of ore Rorqual's compression ability is but overshadowed by the compression array. The compression array is a structure that can be anchored within a POS and in comparison can hold considerably larger quantities of ore, allowing for larger quantities of ore to be compressed at once.
The Rorqual is a very capable ship with many tools to assist miners but with better alternatives available many miners only use Rorquals for its bonus to mining foreman links.
Skills
Further information about additional or recommended skills to pilot Rorqual for a specific or it's common role(s) can be written here.
Fitting
For more info on fittings, please go here
Tactics
•Rorquals can activate their 'Industrial Core I' module within the relative safety of a POS's (Player Owned Starbase) Shield.
Notes
• Rorquals cannot enter into High Security Space.
