| info=Black Ops battleships are designed for infiltration and espionage behind enemy lines. With the use of a short-range jump drive and a portal generator, they are capable of making a special type of jump portal usable only by covert ops vessels. This enables them to stealthily plant reconnaissance and espionage forces in enemy territory. For the final word in clandestine maneuvers, look no further.

Visiting the Abyss to defeat its denizens and escape with valuable loot can be a reliable and profitable way to earn ISK. Basic abyssal filaments can be tackled by newer, low-SP characters, including Alpha clones, and by reinvesting earnings in more powerful ships a player can work their way up to significant earnings, including enough money to fund the Omega clone state.
<!-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***************** ARTICLE SECTION :: ANYTHING BELOW IS SAFELY EDITABLE *******************
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

However, the Abyss is a dangerous and unforgiving place. To help players learn to exploit it safely, this article contains a series of links to fits and related video guides which can take players from very cheap, accessible ships to expensive, lucrative higher-tier abyssal runs.
Summary
The Redeemer is the Amarr Black Ops. Its strong rate of fire bonus leads to impressive DPS which makes it the most popular damage dealer among Black Ops. The capacitor warfare bonus is welcome to make the typical neut in the utility high more effective. Despite that bonus, full neuting fits like it is common for the Sin are not done with the Redeemer as the damage from its turrets is considered too valuable. The Redeemer is the Black Ops with the most low slots (seven), thus it’s not surprising that it’s usually armor tanked. It’s also a popular option for dedicated bridging fits because the high number of low slots allows fitting many expanded cargoholds.

These fits are by no means the only way to tackle the Abyss. They are, however, extremely reliable, tried-and-tested options which will—flown properly in the appropriate tiers of filament—serve pilots well.
Skills
Further information about additional or recommended skills to pilot Redeemer for a specific or its common role(s) can be written here.

=== Step 1: Getting started === <!-- Maybe change position of the step and the description? Makes the steps easier to find and, for me at least,leads to a clearer ToC -->

Steps 1 and 2 of the the abyssal track are designed for Tranquil Electrical Filaments. We call these "T0 Abyssals". They're a great way to be introduced to the abyss. Many of these ships have been supplied to new players with very positive results.
20.03 Release - Build: 2013787 - 2022-03-08 - "Road to Fanfest" Update (Patch Notes)

Please be thorough in your studies before you enter the abyss. Watching the video guides will help a lot. We also recommend you read the abyssal tracker website links where provided. Write-ups are available on those pages. Players are also welcome to join Uriel's in-game chat channel, "RPR-Abyss", where this information is stored in the Message of the Day, and where they can meet a pool of players happy to help with any questions. Abyssal Lurkers may also help, but the fits listed here are not tied to their community.
Brand new Role bonuses have been added to all battleships (excluding the Praxis).

Step 3: Road to Omega
* 50% bonus to HP from all Armor Plates
* 100% bonus to HP from all Shield Extenders
* 5% additive bonus to all Reinforced Bulkhead modules, for those with discerning tastes.

Step 3 and 4 of the abyssal track are designed for Calm Electrical Filaments. We call these "T1 Abyssals". This is the next progression after "graduating" from the Tristan.

Once again, be thorough in your studies, and complete some T0s in the Tristan fit before starting here. Many players will be able to afford and fly the Step 4 fit right away but, nevertheless, they are strongly advised to at least start with Step 2 and only move up to Step 4 after having completed dozens of T0s. The jump up can be a shock.

The Gila fits can and probably should be ran on lower-tier filaments until you get the hang of things. We, and more importantly the Abyss, don't care how good you think you are. "Elite PvPers" have died plenty of times taking this fit straight in without experience and thinking "PvE is easy". Pilots who don't have the names on their kill priority list memorized, don't understand the fit's weaknesses, or don't know the structures and weather in the Abyss by heart should not start here.
(stats correspond to a T2 hull resist bonus increase from +10%/+5% primary/secondary resist to +36.25%/+21.33% for armor, +36%/+21.66% for shield.)

Day 0 kneeboard
October 2019 Release - 2019-10-15.1
provided by Irving Farnham

In aircraft operations, a "kneeboard" is a handy knee-mounted reference tool that helps a pilot keep vital information to hand for regular checking.

The following lists are checklists. Survival in the Abyss requires you to keep paying attention to your piloting and to every key safety detail every time, however familiar and routine runs start to feel. Running through these checklists every time will help prevent avoidable losses.

Post-fitting (once per ship)
* Set up two groups, "Strike/CAP" and "Damaged" (names are arbitrary)
* Set Strike/CAP to launch group (right click on group name and make favorite)

You will need to undock your ship to access the Drones window and do this.

Pre-flight
* 8 Acolytes
* 1,000 rounds EMP S ammunition (see notes)
* Nanite repair paste
* Ensure Acolytes and ship in good repair

Pre-operation
* Check drone passive/aggressive settings
* Check drone abandonment warning engaged
* Assign Acolytes to Strike/CAP

Pre-jump
* Check thermals / disable overheat
* Reload cannon
* Recover all drones
* Damage assessment and repair (Check drone status, re-evaluate groups, repair components)

Post-jump, on Abyss entry
* Note enemy types, objective, and weather types
* Avoid/approach towers as appropriate while generating transverse motion
* Engage enemy

Post-jump, on return to Realspace
* Check Local and Overview for immediate threats
* Select exit point, engage afterburner and issue warp command
* Disable afterburner by the end of its first cycle

Default drone commands cheat-sheet
* Launch strike group: Shift+F
* Engage: F
* Recall to orbit: Shift+Alt+R
* Recall to bay: Shift+R

Notes/reminders
