The Talwar is redolent of the renowned Minmatar practicality in terms of battle. Irrespective of numbers, firepower and circumstances, their strategy when engaged in combat often revolves around the same central tenet: Stay untouchable as much as you can, either by sneaking around or rushing in, do as much damage as fast as you can, and get out before you get killed. As such, the Talwar does not come equipped to hang around forever on the battlefield. It is built to rush around at speed without getting caught, and to hit very hard and very, very fast. SHIP BONUSES
Minmatar Destroyer Skill bonuses:

Summary
The Talwar is a close range brawler utilizing rockets or light missiles to fight smaller craft like Frigates or other Destroyers. Due to its unique bonus amongst Destroyers reducing the signature radius bloom of MicroWarp Drives it is the fastest Destroyer available and able to reach such speeds without increasing its own signature radius significantly.
Skills
Due to its short range and the ship heavily relying on speed, acquiring a good level of knowledge in Navigation skills can improve the ship's performance significantly. Missiles skills can increase the ships damage output and range even more.

Tactics
As with all destroyers, the Talwar offers great firepower while sacrificing its own odds for survival. Its very high speed makes it harder for enemies to hit the Destroyer, and it allows the ship to get into range quicker. Due to this, the ship should always kept in motion with the MicroWarp Drive being enabled. While the increased Signature Radius might increase the damage it receives a bit, the far bigger velocity increment will offset this by far. As such, it is especially susceptible to bigger ships with webifiers that will simply outlast its damage output, such as the Huginn or Vindicator.
While the Talwar's bonuses suggest Light Missiles as an alternative weapon system, this complicates fitting the ship as a whole (when aiming for the maximum number of launchers), as the more complex Light Missile Launchers will require significantly more Power Grid and CPU.
As such, especially newer players are presented with three alternative strategies when picking weapons:
- Fit the ship for Rockets, maximizing the close range damage without further disadvantages other than range.
- Sacrifice one or more low or rig slots to increase the available Power Grid and CPU capacities to make room for a full set of Light Missile Launchers.
- Use less Light Missile Launchers than the possible maximum, while using the other high slots for other modules, e.g. Tractor Beams or Salvagers.
Similar to Interceptors and Assault Ships the Talwar's MWD bonuses strongly suggests always fitting a MicroWarp Drive for faster movement, although an Afterburner might be more interesting for fittings with Light Missile Launchers.
Due to the symmetric slot layout with 3 low and 3 medium powered slots, the ship can be tanked either way. However, due to the limited amount of available slots, the Talwar should never ignore its own speed and signature radius to out-tank other ships by simply not getting hit.
Notes
While it's usually the best idea to fit as many guns or turrets as possible on a ship meant for DPS, the Talwar might make it necessary to ignore this common rule when trying to aim for longer range.
