Summary
The Griffin Navy Issue ("GNI") is an expensive "faction" version of the Griffin, souped up and retuned to operate differently to its base hull, and indeed different to any other ship in the game. It receives bonuses that benefit ECM drones, together with limitations that encourage fighting at close range.
Skills
These skills will improve your EWAR effectiveness when flying a Griffin Navy Issue.
- Caldari Frigate - Affects both ECM effectiveness and hybrid turret damage.
- Long Range Targeting - 5% Bonus to targeting range per skill level. Requires CPU Management Level 2.
See the Electronic warfare and Electronic Countermeasures articles for more information.
Tactics
PvE
ECM is useless in basic PvE, and advanced forms of PvE tend to require tougher tanks than the Griffin Navy Issue can mount.
PvP
The Griffin Navy Issue's unique combination of bonuses and limitations means that it can launch powerful ECM drones, but can only use them at relatively close range. This combined with the hybrid turret bonus encourages brawling fits with blasters and ECM drones, though it is also possible to kite at the edge of warp scrambler range with railguns.
Hornet EC-300s have a 5.5-7.5s jam duration (based on Caldari Frigate level), but with a 20s cycle duration. This limited uptime can be compensated for by repeatedly launching, engaging, and then returning the EC-300s. This process lets the drones attempt to jam more than the 20s cycle would otherwise.
