The Vexor is a strong combat ship that is also geared to operate in a variety of other roles. The Vexor is especially useful for surveying in potentially hostile sectors as it can stay on duty for a very long time before having to return to base. Furthermore, it is well capable of defending itself against even concentrated attacks. SHIP BONUSES

Summary
The Vexor is a dedicated drone boat. It has 75mb of drone bandwidth, allowing it to field a mixed flight of medium and heavy drones at a time, and has the drone bay to carry a few replacements or an additional flight of light drones. This gives the Vexor great flexibility for long roams, where it can carry a full flight of medium and light damage drones, as well as a flight of light repair or EWAR drones to deploy as the situation dictates. While the Vexor has a bonus to hybrid guns, this can be ignored if desired due to a large amount of the Vexor's DPS coming from drones anyway, and Vexors with autocannons, nosferatu and/or neutralisers are common. With 4 mids and 5 lows Vexors are most often armor tanked.
The Vexor is also a great ship to use for salvaging missions as they are completed. By using 2 Salvagers, a Small Tractor Beam, a Drone Link Augmentor and a single Hybrid Turret (to draw aggro) in the high slots a moderately drone-skilled capsuleer can securely complete level 2 missions while salvaging. Salvaging level 2 missions is debatably profitable however the salvage/mission fit Vexor can complete level 2s in respectable time when compared to a straight mission fit Vexor.
Among t1 cruisers the Vexor is a little more skill demanding than the Thorax. In particular you should not get a Vexor unless you have at least Drones 4 and should make getting Drones 5 a high priority.
Skills
Drones V: You shouldn't get into the Vexor until you have this. You'll be killing your DPS and it is a lossmail waiting to happen.
Drone Interfacing III (IV ideally): 20% increase in drone damage per level? What are you waiting for and get this yesterday.
Drone Navigation III: To fit the Drone Navigation Computer (+25% drone speed) and a increase of 5% per level. Reduce the travel time of drones to your target.
Drone Sharpshooting III: (get IV ASAP): Increases optimal range of drones, they start shooting at your target sooner.
Scout Drone Operation IV (V for T2 drones, ASAP): At V, your drones will have an engagement sphere of 45km.
Combat Drone Operation III: 5% increase to damage per level. Very important as well. This will let you fit the Drone Link Augmentor in a high slot. Increasing drone control range +20km per module you fit. Lets you engage Kiters/snipers. Get it to V if you are a serious droneboater.
Heavy Drone Operation V: 5% increase to damage of Heavy drones. Very important when fighting big ships.
You should not neglect your gunnery either. Combining both can make the Vexor have crazy amounts of dps for a ship its size.

- This is a Meta 4 downgraded version of the "Mission T2" fit
- If certain Meta 4 modules are too expensive, you can try their Meta 3 variations
- The Drone Link Augmentor I enables you to stay at a far range (ca. 50km) from the rats while your drones do the work for you
- Upgrade to a T2 tank and T2 drones as soon as possible

- As fitted, with all skills at V and before boosts, this Vexor has 14 K EHP, flies at 630 m/s (810 m/s overheated) and align in 8.1 s with AB on. The ship is cap stable.
- Damage varies between 450 dps at 9 + 7.5 km with Caldari Navy Antimatter and 360 dps at 29 + 7.5 km with Caldari Navy Iron. Drones contribute about 70 - 80% of the overall damage, so good drone skills are a must.

Tactics
PVP --- If you're coming from the Algos (and conventional MMO master/minion tactical thinking), you think your drones must do the fighting for you, whilst you sit back and direct them like a conductor. To get the maximum potential out of the Vexor you need to do the exact opposite. Think of yourself as a sixth drone - that charges into the enemy alongside your five other drones and melts them with blasters. It takes a bit of time, due to the drone support skills and fitting skills that's required beforehand, but you could have a Vexor that will make its presence felt every time it steps onto the battlefield. Even with Meta 4 guns, pre-T2 gunnery, mid-range drone skills and T1 drones, you could be pumping out over 450dps in a Shield Vexor. Move into T2 drones and you start breaking 500+dps.
Be aware that the price you pay for this means that, depending on whether you want full PVP ability, fitting scram, web etc, that you can only fit a Large Shield Extender and two or even all three of your rig slots are devoted to keeping all 4 Modal Neutron guns powered up with Med Ancillary Current Routers, (Really? Train that Power Grid Management skill to IV, then quickly V.) especially if you have low to mid range fitting skills and still in the process of getting them trained up. So don't expect much of a tank to go along with your high dps. Keep your relative transversal high to the enemy and go for a hit and run approach.
An Armor Vexor is also a valid option and your dps is reduced to the mid 300 region, due to the lows being taken up by plates and EANM, and downgrading to Electron Blasters, but you will last longer under fire. So go for this if attrition battles are more your style.
Notes
This vessel qualifies for the University Ship Replacement, PYOS, BYOM, and Mining Loaner Fleet programs.
